this car is all that an italian car shoud be: gorgeous, fast, exclusive and instantly recognisable. what it also has though is a couple of german contributes...practibility, comfrot and user-friendlyness (at least compared to other italian cars). maserati and italdesign have done a spectacular job on this car bar 2 things. the bulge in the bonnet for the new V8. lovely engine but it makes the car look fatter than the 3200GT, and also where have those funky lights gone? all changed for the american market..its terrible, the lack of taste americans have. if they cant appreciate style, they should stick to their corvettes and mustangs. also, i hear that maserati's next coupe is movie up-market, to DB9 territory. this is terrible as it puts a maserati further from reach and will place them in into sub-supercar obscurity instead of the modest respect they always gain when they drive past. in my opinion the best car EVER would be all the technology of this car shoved into the styling of the 3200GT, styling that never should have left. all i hope for now is dramatic depreciation so i can get my hands on a hot little 2nd hand 3200GT and keep it forever...oh, and that quattroporte is just gorgeous..wait till you see one on the road!

.....ferrari owns maserati! so i doubt they really care if the maserati coupe is stealing sales from them, at the end of the day the more maserati sells the better it is for ferrari (and fiat!) And another thing you gotta remember not every one can afford a ferrari, the maserati fills the gap left behind by the dino as the more affordable ferrari, try not to think of it as a poor mans ferrari but rather a baby ferrari, designed to compete with the lower end of the supercar market, its in the same league as the jag XK8 and any porcshe 911 less powerfull then a turbo.
 WOW!

This car, has stepped into Ferrari's territory. I'm sure it has stolen sales from Ferrari, but it seems that Ferrari is still confident about their cars performing on the sales chart. This Maserati is as fast as the 550 Maranello on a race track, and can now keep up with a 360 Modena, simply amazing! And with that sticker price of about S$400,000 in Singapore, it is half the price of a 360 Modena! Seems value-for-money, but a pity not many can afford such an expensive car.
 Splits opinion

The Coupe and it's predecessor, the short-lived 3200GT, are cars that have totally split opinion. The styling, handling and Cambiocorsa gearbox have attracted praise from some, criticism from others. Maserati has aknowledged comments from owners and the motoring press and has offered various upgrades (and some unofficial recalls!) over the last three years. The Coupe and Spyder GT variant have received revisions for 2003, including new wheels and refinements to the Cambiocorsa transmission.
Lots of substance, too little style

"This is a well built, great driving, viscerally stimulating car. It oozes quality and character. The interior is miles better than my old 348 and my current 355 spider. It's probably even better than the 360 and 550. The Magneti-Marelli F1 tranny still doesn't compare to the BMW SMG in terms of smoothness, and is little better than my 355's, which is a first gen F1. Overall, it is a great engine backed up by a fine chassis. Unfortunately, it is covered by one of the most unattractive shape to grace an Italian exotic. This car appears out of proportion in the pix, but looks even worse in the metal. The wheels are ugly; the overall style too subdued. It supposedly competes with the 911 and XKR in the marketplace. It has better performance and is way more exclusive, but it doesn't sell as well as it deserves to because of the lack of style. Giugiaro should have done better. Finally, don't believe what they say about this being a true four seater. It is a 2+2."""
