the beetle was a great hit.people turned & looked at it.children pointed & laughed at it but soon the spotlight was taken over by the smart city & then the new mini cooper. It would have been a greater hit if the convt & coupe were launched together.i still think the convt is released very late as a gap of even a month between the 2 would have definetely affected sales.i dont look at the beetle as car only for women & dont mind owning the convt but my freinds would make fun of me.i look at it as a car with funny shape with cute design.but with only 115 hp i would rather have the new mini cooper.i wonder if the beetle Turbo S is also available as a convt? it would be the world's funniest & cutest sportscar.it may be the perfect competititer of the boxster [just kidding].

It's not too late... there will never be a replacement model for this Beetle... It's still cute though, but they are like almost everywhere on Singapore roads, that they don't really bother by its cuteness anymore. In my opinion, the new Nissan Micra/March is a whole lot cuter with an even cuter dashboard. It's because we are too familiar with the shape that we don't really find the Beetle all that interesting anymore. The new Nissan March with a steel folding roof will make people more reluctant to part their money on a Beetle Cabriolet.

Put the Turbo S engine under the hood then I'll show some interest! By the way, VW, don't you think that you're a little too late with the convertible model?

It took VW five years to finally put out a Beetle Cabrio, and now the wait is over. The next questio is does anyone care anymore? I know I don't! Out of the dozen or so convertibles out there I can think of plenty i'd spend my money on before I bought a glorified, overpriced car with a 19th century four banger. BLAH!
