Coup is better |
hispeed90gt 8-8-2003 |
Overall, I like the look of the new 'stang. It beats the crap outta 80's/90's models. I know its a concept, but I hope they dont change much. Oh, and btw, badassb_block460 needs to go back to third grade and learn how to write. It would at least make him sound somewhat intelligent. |
yeah rite |
FPV_GTHO 14-3-2003 |
u probably like the fuel consumption and cold starts of the old cars as well. at least these two aspects can easily be changed with the addition of fuel injection |
i'm a big ford fan but sorry to say all new cars suck |
badassb-block460 5-3-2003 |
all the new cars suck not just ford all of them there is to much plastic and fuel injection is just crappy the true mustangs are back in the 60's and 70's and hell i'm bringing the past back by rebuilding them the old ones can beat any of the new ones plastic is put on to brake and also to decrease weight well you don't have to worry about wieght with the old 428s and if you modify that then well your just starting to hit levels of over kill throw a dual quad on that and try to tell me its not cranking out hp and just to say how much fuel injetion sucks my carborated 351m cranks out more torqe and hp then the injected models and even some of the bigger size injected models and dont try to tell me weight is a big issue i rather have something that is steel and strong that is not gonna get totaled in its first crash my rebuilt 1984 ford f-250 is all renforced with more steel then it already had not to mention the 1/4 inch thick arc welded square tubeular steel front end bumper i made that wieghs well over 200 pounds and whats pretty damn sad is i still can blow most new cars away i beat a new mustang plastic mobile complete with its injected v-8 right off the god damn line i tried raceing a old rebuilt and modified Boss 428 knowing i was gonna lose and yeah i did very badly to but that car had a lot of power unlike the new ones my ear drums were ringing for a couple days after racing that car it was so loud when i got out of the truck i could feel sound waves hammering my chest and at least the old ones had real frames thats my comment i know most people like the new cars but hey i like the mean look and the raw power of the past (i will never buy a new car i'll just resurect the old) -my spelling sucks yes i know- |
A beauty! |
sid 20-2-2003 |
this Mustang sure brings out the name! with a V8 , 4.6 liter i say this car rocks! and not forgetting its supercharger. it supercharged me alright when i first saw it. WOW! |
Hold your horses |
Catboy400i 3-2-2003 |
Every one of you who thinks this car is goin to be a waste of money... your damn wrong! I'm mostly a stinking Chevy fan but I have always wanted a pony like this!!! I might now be able to do that! So if you don't have any freaken thing nice to say about it go jump in your piece of shit civics and lowered accords and cry about it. If you are an American, by God, drive a dang AMERICAN car! For all of you chevy fans, if you dont like this go to the Chevy SSR website. |
RE: 20K in a Civic |
blue_oval_tech 31-1-2003 |
Buhandi, you put a monkey in a tuxedo, and he's still a monkey. Likewise, you invest 20k into a Civic and you still only have a Civic. Muscle cars of today are no longer the straight line accelerating machines of yesteryear. Nowadays, they have tuned independant rear suspensions and four wheel disc brakes which not only make them handle well, but stop well also. |
supernatey13, y do u sound so hickish? |
Buhandi 29-1-2003 |
sure, stock an SVT Cobra has 390 horses, but it's 20k more than a civic. Invest 20k into that civic and it will be pushing 500+. And anybody who knows anything about musclecars should know the infamy that comes along with them. They are extremely well known to be poor handlers |
its back! |
deeds 20-1-2003 |
i think its great that ford is bringing the original characteristics back. the 'stang look like it'll take on any competitor and totally leave it in the dust. way to go ford! |
GOOD JOB |
LUCKYW 17-1-2003 |
I am very glad to see this car. It looks great, and will be a big hit. We can only hope that the real car looks half as good as this one does. If this car is not your style, please do not ruin it for the rest of us. Everyone to whom I have shown this car to has absolutely loved it, myself included. Keep up the good work over at Ford. |
My Mind is Changed |
Subwoofa 17-1-2003 |
I absolutly love this car now...because i saw this car at the auto show. The coupe in a silver color. I've noticed that these pictures are maddd ugly compared to the real thing and the convertible is disgusting compared to the GT coupe. When i saw this car on its stand, it just looked a beast, it was slammed to the floor and the size of it intimidated all the competitors..good job! Only if the specs only are gonna be the same when this car is produced.... |
Do it! |
Andonis 11-1-2003 |
Finally something worth the Mustang name. The Coupe is even better. Don't change a damn thing! I only got two words 4 U: DO IT! |
American cars are boxy? |
sam_777 11-1-2003 |
Firewalk, how can u say that all American cars are boxy? Look at some of the recent concepts i.e. the Pontiac Solstice, Cheverolet SS and the new Pontiac GTO and you will see that all these cars have smooth flowing lines. Yes i know the Pontiac GTO is a Holden Monaro, but even so the American market has embraced it with open arms. Im no big fan of American cars but i know that not all of them are boxy. |
Strange.......... |
stallionrider957 11-1-2003 |
Has anyone noticed this..........The car doesn't seem to have any thing to open the door from the outside........ |
Boxy |
Rad 9-1-2003 |
The new stang give a whole new meaning to the word boxster. The the Toyota celica has got more curves than this thing. |
firewalk that is whack! |
supernatey13 9-1-2003 |
dude...a mustang would kill a civic...we are talking stock..this mustang is STOCK...a stock civic does not have 500+ horsepower..i am a huge mustang fan..and if you bolt a supercharger and an aftermarket exaust on a stang..u could easily pump 460+ hp..and that is two mod's... you would have to tune the heck out of a civic to even compete with a stock mustang..let alone an svt... an svt would just blow the whole body off a civic...your argument has no validity..and anyone who knows anything about automobiles let alone muscle cars would know...a mustang would work a civic...short and simple |
Nice truck... |
Outlaw 9-1-2003 |
I'm no big mustang expert, but I think starting from the SVO of the 80s to the recent models (sons of the machIII prototype of the early 90s), the mustangs lost a LOT of their charm in the looks department. This one is a nice effort to recover the appeal of the shiny days. I've just seen the pictures for the coupe version in the slideshow coverage of the Detroit motor show event, well the roof is good, but the massive front and wheel arches make it look like a damn SUV, ruining the thing completely. I hope they're going to make some serious remodelling before they're going to sell it. |
HAHA |
Firewalk 8-1-2003 |
"I am still waiting on seeing how much this thing weighs. Sure 400 horses is nice, but what about wieght? I find it funny how you can mod a 92 Civic Hatchback for the same price. Yet the civic weighs only 1700 pounds. And is pushing 500+ horses. Can you say Goooooodnight Stang??? Plus, the civic at least has CURVES. Damn american cars are ""boxes."" They have no styling. I really don't like Civics myself, but it is a true fact. """ |
Complain! Complain! Complain! |
jackson 7-1-2003 |
"Yes it should be a 2+2, but it's unmistakably a Mustang, with maybe some styling cues from across the pond (that's Europe for the ""Body by Budweiser"" personnel). A refreshing statement by Ford. Muscle and Refinement. If the better speculated agility holds true due to the new DEW Lite chassis, and better MFRing because of the modern production plant (majority of mustangs to 2003 model have been produced in the same factory since the 1st 64.5 model), Ford should prosper. What's the Ford Stock Price?... Just hope Ford fills out the wheel wells on the production model, even their 17"" upgrades on the current models look weak.""" |
This is awesome! |
Iron Axel 7-1-2003 |
"I do have to agree with subwoofa on the fact that it should be a 2+2. You cant have the new Tbird and the mustang 2 passenger. On the flip side this design is incredible and if priced right will help bring Ford back into power. At first sight you think ""now that is a mustang""! This design is by far better than what they have been trying to pass off as a mustang the past few years. """ |
Come on, it's not all that bad |
Lachlan J 7-1-2003 |
Honestly, compared to the the recent wussmobiles ford has churned out lately (taurus, thunderbird) this car is actually prety good. Could be better, ie being a 2+2, having an NA 5.0 instead of a blown 4.6 and proper head and tailights would be nice, but pretty good noetheless. Heard a rumor from a pretty reliable source that the 2005 Mustang could be based on a BA Falcon chassis, which would be awesome. Also, the quoted engine power figure is also likely to stay the same or even rise due to the fast it will be using the new 'boss' V-8, which suitably rocks. |
WHAT IS FORD THINKING!? |
cookieman2764 6-1-2003 |
"Now personally, I am a big Ford fan, but I must say, this has to be one of the uglyest cars I've ever seen...look at it's headlights...it looks like the car is wimpering. It gives you the feeling that the car is weak. Although 400 horsepower is an impressive number, I don't think much of this car. This is suppose to resemble a '68? I'll take the '68 Fastback over this any day that ends with a ""y"".""" |
New Idea |
Subwoofa 6-1-2003 |
I just noticed something, this is a two seater. And to my knowledge, the current mustang is a 2 + 2. There is a slight problem there, Mustangs are meant to be 2 + 2. That is what makes them unique and special. In my opinion, inorder to be a 2 seater, you must have speed, and that 400 horsepower will never ever be in any mustang. It will most likely be cut down to maybe 270 280ish. That is a problem, like the Honda Civic Del Sol. Boy was that a nightmare. |
if you like THIS>.. |
FallenAngel 6-1-2003 |
I agree totally with subwoofa et. al. This is just pathetic. The mustangs of the past weren't horrible (my ex-girlfriend had one...a '66) and I must admit I'm a Chevy man (and god help whoever dicided on cutting the Camaro). However, this a bit too much for me. I have no problem with bringing back a classic...I wish it would really happen- even if it be a ford. But this vain attempt to make a 'Neo-mustang' that looks like an old one just doesn't work for me. But...my gut tells me that alot of people who are really superficial and think that a retro look is all that there is to a car will be buying these. *note- one point to Ford's credit. At least they are keeping it a sports car. Dodge murdered it's Charger concept with 4 doors, and the New Chevy SS is just, well, a family version of a Corvette IMHO. Cheers for the intent to the boys at Ford, but the actual product has much to be desired. |
Not bad, a few changes needed |
5.0 fever2004 6-1-2003 |
This Mustang isnt too bad, but a couple things need to get changed. First of all, the silver part around the headlights needs to be made boby color. They also need to bring back the 5.0. The 5.0 displacement along with the 4.6 modular technology would create a great engine. Keep the Cobra blown, but make that 5.0 w/o blower have about 400 hp. Blown that would be over 500 horses.(Can you say Viper-killer?) Keep the 3 slotted vertical taillamps, with sequential turn signals. Take that back seat window and have several options available for it. A regular window, the covered version like on the GT Coupe, and a slotted window. How about making the back window roll down? Why did that disappear from cars? The tranny also needs to have a optional 6 speed manual? optional paddle shifting would be great. That would be a great Mustang. |
brilliant! |
tifso 6-1-2003 |
"What a beautiful vehicle! Mustangs have ""character"" and this concept is no disappointment. Much better than bland Japanese sportscars; sure they are real high tech and stuff, but what about that intangible panache? Compare this to the competition, like a Celica...Easy to see that Ford rules!""" |
shut up subwoofa!!!! |
motorhead 6-1-2003 |
This looks brilliant. Much better than any Mustang that has ever been made. It looks real retro and that was what ford wanted. The interior is real modern looking and the car really stands out from the rest of the american sports cars. When this comes out it is really going to be a big hit, no doubt! |
gr8 design... |
supernatey13 6-1-2003 |
I am a total mustang fanatic...and when i saw this design the first time... i wasnt so pleased with the whole idea of a retro stang... but after i saw the pics and heard about the technical side of things... i fell in love..this is a truely modern mustang..that just has retro ques...this has new everything..and i am pleased..all i can hope is that ford gives this machine the power it deserves...i hope for at least 300hp for the GT... and 425 would be just gravey in the cobra...i hope that the undeniable sucess on the track and the strip that the 03 cobra has acheived would encourage ford to keep the power levels high...give this mustang some performance that owners will brag about.. other than that..my only real concern is that i am way too young (15 yrs old) to be able to own one.. : ) |
no no no |
bigV8man 6-1-2003 |
im with you on this one subwoofa. this car is shocking, they are trying to recreate the original which is fair enough but what you really should NOT do is make it look like the original and make it look like its up with the times by looking all flash. this is pathetic, when will ford learn. it does not take a supercharger to raise 400bhp out of a 4.6 liter V8, especially since it is fuel injected and has a DOHC valvetrain. what ford should be doing is creating new vehicles instead of recreating what WAS good, it just doesnt work that way |
What the?! |
jrengine47 6-1-2003 |
"Alright, so I'm not a huge Ford fan to begin with, but I've respected their vehicle designs from the past. But this is just horrible. I can't believe that Ford would even think of showing this new Mustang to the world, because if I were the one who designed it, I would shoot myself. It has lost all the styling cues associated with the Mustangs of today. Fine, Ford is trying for a re-make of the Sixties version of the car; if they want to do this, they should just go back to the original designs for the Mustang and use those. This is not helping Ford's image in my eyes...""" |
not too bad |
sindbad 6-1-2003 |
Not too sure what Subwoofa's problem is. It does look retro but at least not as charmless and clumsy-looking as most Mustangs they came up with in the last 30 years or so. |
Hope not |
gtr_racer 6-1-2003 |
I hope they don't change the actual Mustang for this one.. They would totally screw it up. The Shelby Mustangs are incredible either the actual one, but this one may be a future mistake. It would be the blow up of the American sports car legend. |
Ew |
Subwoofa 5-1-2003 |
What the heck is this? Sure it looks like something from '69 but ew. They completely screwed this up...and i hope it is only a concept and not a production car. If i ever see one of these on the road, i am personally going to find the person who designed this car, and i am gonna slap him, then spit in his face. |
You'll See it in 2004 |
escalade_189 5-1-2003 |
This baby is a preview of the next-gen Mustang, coming out in 2004 as a 2005 model. This release colaberates with the 40th anniversary of the first Mustang. Can't wait to see the SVT and Cobra versions! |
