I am not a big fan of German cars. The older ones I'm in love with, but modern day German cars, I've lost faith in. I think they are overrated, unreliable, and bland. There are your exceptions, of course (can anyone say Carrera GT, M3, SLs, etc?). Anyway, The luxury saloons from BMW and Mercedes (as well as Audi and Volkswagen) always bored the crap out of me. Until the CLS came along. I don't know who designed this, but this Mercedes is the best looking one I have ever seen. I really want one. The idea of making the back a space for two passengers to be very comfortable (as opposed to three passengers fitting) was a nice touch, especially the way that wood cover on the storage space looks. The dash is extremely tasteful, unlike most Mercedes which are ugly or crowded with buttons (or BMW, which only has that one damn iDrive button!). There are a bunch of clever little luxury touches, like hiding the CD changer behind a piece of wood that has the climate controls. That's something Bentley or Rolls would do. There is surprising room in the backseat for the coupe design that the CLS has. I think that German cars are making a slow but sure comeback to what they used to be, and Mercedes-Benz is leading the way with the CLS, new SLK, new S, and SL. Too bad BMW was much better in the 90's and early 2000, but now they're trailing at the bottom of the list for good German cars (damn you, Bangle, and that cheap, ugly style, and ugly, frustrating iDrive!).

to celebrate the holy Month of Ramadan Mercedes-Benz launched the CLS in Dubai in mid October 2004. before finding out about the launch i saw a Maroon CLS 500 on a break-down truck. i couldn't take my eyes off it. Not only was i surprised to see one but its looks were amazing. the Concept blew me away but the production version looked disappointing. this was the second time that I was blown away by the CLS 500. Mercedes-Benz is giving 500 dirhams, from the total price, to charity And a 1 in 500 chance to win the CLS 500 if you buy any other Mercedes model during Ramadan.
