Join the roadster wars. |

With the new Solstice and MX-5 coming out last fall, followed by the Sky (Saturn) this year, Scion should consider a small muscular roadster that could start around $18,000 or so (considerably less than any of the others). Stick the Corolla/Matrix 1.8L motor in it, and base it off the same platform of the xA/xB. Obviously the roadster would look nothing like this "Speedster" but it would open up a new market for the youth-oriented brand. They probably would not have too much of a difficulty getting that motor to work anyway since it is rumored that the next gen xA/xB will use it anyway. That type of an offering may even temp me to give up my MX-5 for one (that's a BIG maybe). One final thought: with several new offerings of the small roadster, it seems that there is more than one brand that feels there is a market for such a class in America. |
