I had allready heard of people who got their pants wet with a ride in a Impreza, but this is too much.
He thought: Subarus always understeer, but in this ice, I'm going to fix it!
I really don't like Impreza. But think it's a shame it was an STI in the hands of a stupid guy.
You guys in UK take note of the licens plate so that one day you dont buy this car.

Well, I have to confess...:)
This mishap happened to a local (I mean...kkhmmkhmm..Estonian) rally driver Rene Pohl. He decided to go for a ride on an ice track which was opened for a public use on a frozen lake.
However, because of his brand new WRX STi (only few hundred km's on the clock) he was cocky enough to take a shortcut and you can see the result...
No one was hurt besides Rene Pohl's ego.
The car's fate is unknown to me. Junkyard is only option really IMO.:(

Cheers!

Look at how thick the ice is in the second picture. Makes you think twice about pulling something like that. Not that any of us are dumb enough to only think ONCE about it. ;)

I would have to say you're wrong.

Look at the hole in the ice in the first pictre, without any rigging to get it out, and then in the second, with the ropes pulling it in. The hole in the first picture is much bigger, wider, thinner, and imperfect. The second picture shows a perfectly rectangular hole with the pieces that were punched out sitting on top of the ice. Now when does something that breaks throug ice leave pieces on top of the ice? This does not make sense to me. My guess is that the fire crew punched a hole in the ice near ground in order to recover the vehicle.

yea i think ur right. and also look at the third pic. looks like the but out a rectagular peice of ice and dropped down half to use as a ramp to pull the car out. pretty nifty but idk how that would work. maybe not but it looks like that
