Its a blue 1974 Austin Maxi... offered for free in the newspaper.

I rung up the people selling it and they said it had been parked for a few years, but it was running good and well when they parked it.

Heres a pic of what it will look like!

However this will only be a paddock car ;)

I'm not sure if it was be registerable, i'll have to wait till I possibly go and check the car out tomorrow. Probably a bit rusted.

Make sure that you drive it as hard as you can until it simply cannot drive anymore.

he he i thought it looked a bit too shiny for a car that had been parked for a few years :D . Any car that runs and is free is a amazing find.

Spastik_Roach
01-12-2005, 01:46 AM
Well i'm not absolutely sure it runs. Battery might be stuffed. I'm not sure. I'll get back to you all.

Thnking it throughtS-R. As I'd said, not a lot of Maxi's around. It might be worth getting it for free and then calling around and see if any collector wanted to restore a Maxi. Like I said, not a lot around, but plenty of bits !! Heel over here even Marina's get talked about as a "classic" !!!

Marinas? *shudders*

My father has been the proud owner of three Marinas 15.d! :D
Two were 2 seater vans and one was un ugly 4 door black with red interior!!! "Oh God! I'm at the night club!!" :D:D
I can't describe how bad they were...

I once bought a Peugeot 104 with 4 more friends for 25€... I had no drivers license and took the car to a place were there were some new streets made for and industrial zone. Nobody went there at weekends and we used to spend sundays doing our best to destroy the poor old car...
We crashed twice but couldn't manage to end the jb as someone has the car was stolen from us! :D:D

It wouldn't be hard to fix up if it wasn't running. The engine probably isn't too different to the one in my mini, which means that there's not a lot to go wrong. Get some into on the carby (most likely an S.U.) so you can take it apart and clean it, cos it'll definately need it. It's very easy, if you're careful you could do it without, but it's always nice to have a picture for backup. For the oil in it (the carby, not the engine) use sewing machine oil. But yea, good luck man, sounds like fun.

added front aid and rear wing to reduce drag by 14 percent - so it was probably then a 0.8Cd :)
CCC magazine even tried to make a rally car out of it

Well i've rung up about the Maxi, it needs a tyre and a battery, so its out.

HOWEVER.

There is a Honda Concerto for sale, 100 dollars NZ.

It runs and everything, sounds promising!

It has a very noisy exhaust apparently tho, possibly holes? Would some sealent or something fix that?

Spastik_Roach

Yeah...and?

I'm getting a paddock car to drive on the farm.

Anyway.
I went to have a look at the Concerto, exhaust isn't actually that loud, exterior is a bit beat up (few dents and stuff) but the interior is actually quite nice, it has wood grain trim and electric windows etc.

Well my point was, you cant really get use out of a car if your 12... :p
Do you mean your parents (or family) is gettin a new car??
Either way, thats an awesome car.

I heard that LeAnn Rhimes (sp?), the famous country-singer had 5 cars by the age of 15 or 16.

One of which was a black Viper RT10. Too bad her music is terrible.
