original Gone in 60 seconds

Did you actually like that movie? I saw it twice... well, the second time I left 10 minutes in after remembering how awful the movie was. It was terrible, folks. Don't rent it. It's nothing like the new one :)

Yes you are right, this movie is very good. But the second and the third serie is a shame. They killed the spirit of the movie. The Taxi 1 was very good, realist and very fast.
And for Ronnin I love this movie cause the chases are impressives. The last chase is my favorite. In Paris on the beltway.

i havent seen the originals, but i like the new gone in 60 seconds and the italian job. also the freeway chase in 2 fast 2 furious where the saleen mustang (i think its an S281) goes under the semi trailer and a couple of other cars get ridden off. out of the 2 movies (FANTF and 2F2F) thats the best driving bit for me

One of the things i found stupid about 2f2f was that in the first part of the film where they had to retrive some cigars from the impounded ferrari that they were mile ahead of all the blokes in the muscle cars. But later in the film when they are racing for pink slips against the same muscle cars that for out right speed and acceleration they cars would kill them  stupid inconsistancy or what?
Apparently for the first fast and the furious moviethey origonally asked ford to supply them with vehicals and they declined and they then basiclyput up a notic asking for a bit of help and mitsubishi basicly thre 2 eclipes' at them. Well thats the story i got from my old work.

well for the closeups of the cars, they borrowed cars from other people, but whenever they were racing them they used bog-stock cars with bodykits and paintjobs etc.

i think when they went off to drag the 2 muscle cars, its the low down torque that wouldve made a fair race impossible for them to win, on the motorway theyre at speed, so the relatively low top speed of the muscle cars wouldve worked against them, thats what i reckon

Falcon500

Well the cars they were racing were capeabul of 165 mph in stock form there a lot to be said about brute hp hell the 429 mustang were capeabul of such speeds also. Id like to se an eclipse sotck or otherwise clock speeds like that.

i was under the impression a camaro 427 and hemi cuda 426 came with a 4sp gearbox without an overdrive, only making them good for about 200-220km/h

I Actually have purchased the Wraith, and bullit. My favourite car race/chase scene is the start of mad max 1, thats one hell of a way to start a movie. Another good aussie car film is running on empty, where they drag race on the streets back in the 70s with hemis, gt falcons and a 57 chev!

well dont forget theres a bit more gearing then that and I think youd be genuinly suprised how fast you can get with only 4 gears. And with 500 hp (around abouts) And nearly bullet proof everything they can sure wind out hard.

Cars like that would typically come with about a 4.10:1(mopar) or 4.11:1(chev) final drive ratio which coupled with a 29" tall tire would give a speed of approx. 130-135mph at about 6300-6500 rpm.

So the speed is there and a gear swap would technically move top speed even higher, but speaking from my own experience those cars don't have the suspension or aerodynamics to feel comfortable over 120 mph.

So in reality, you can have all kinds of power, and taller gearing(lower numerically ... IE:2.76:1) and have a topspeed over 150 mph, but the car itself will not inspire confidence at that speed.

How could I have forgotten ...

... hint ... (http://www.codesign.it/codework/italian/rms/preserve.ram)

http://www.codesign.it/codework/italian/samples/i/shot10.jpg

THE ITALIAN JOB ( the original )

blow the bloody doors off (http://www.codesign.it/codework/italian/rms/count.ram)

from the upsetting sight of 2 E-types smashed and an Aston Martin getting pushed off the mountain it got better as the Minis drove in the pallazos (sp?), sewers and across the wier.

AND IT WAS ALL REAL - they smashed 15 Minis just trying to do the sewer scene !!

The additional scenes on the DVD are great too, I loved the ballet !!

The second movie isn't as believable and is clearly only a vechicle for BMW.
Even the motorbikes - sad.

Well noone i think your rightup to a point the newer cars are also much softer and with the dulling effect Power stearing has on theroad feel as well as the blocking out of the noise would also give a false sense of security. But you are quite right in general My father owns an XW GT (GT Model before myown falcon) and it with the fairly low ratios the 500 hp clevland and the c-6 i wouldent mind wagering could easily see 140mph+ but he said the wheels really started lifting at 120 he then later got the small front chin spoiler from the later model XYs which actually did stick them onto the ground better (suprisingly its only a strip of fiberglass) but h never really explored the cars potential. And NoOne you want scary try 125 mph in a datsun 1000 (no the puic isnt my oldmans but its the same car if you want my old mans carpicture it in flaking paint the same colour as on the mail boxes though faded and called dogs d*ck red) and fpv if that car doesnt prove they can go around them speeds i dont know what will if a little 1.2 liter engine with no technology at all and with a relativly mild 80+ rwhp back in the day before the GT his current lump runs 80 fly wheels hp and pulls better down low too.

Come to think of it, that modified midnight black '67 Firebird that Niobe drove in that movie was pretty damn sweet...

You could drive the Matrix 2 firebird in Enter the Matrix and it went pretty fast. It's only a video game though they the makers of the game probaly exaggerated about the car in that part. But still...

I liked 2F2F because it was so funny! When the pretty boys race the gearheads and get bitchslapped, I laughed for a good 5 minutes because he has nitrous and hits 110. Wow thats sucks. The Yenko ang Hemi were cool though. I wanna see Vanishing Point so bad!
