Nice car... can you do the UCP "egg nog test" proof of ownership?

Stick a piece of paper with your username written on it over your gear shifter :)

2 reasons why I don't like the look of this car. The license plate is twica as small as the space made for it, it it says 'MUSTANG' really big across the back bumper. Nice car anyway and welcome to UCP

01-22-2005, 05:56 AM
Yeah and it needs a body kit for the front end...looks to small...Just a suggestion  although some people(like me for example) would probaly just spend the money on the engine ;)

:Exige:
01-22-2005, 09:38 AM
Yeah, get the front lowered and the rear highered. Then put a huge spoiler on the back and voila, you could beat a Mclaren F1 easy .. just kiddin. Id be messing with the engine before id even driven the thing. Or Id just buy some cheap crap off Ebay such as induction kits that really change your BHP .. well they lower it anyway. Not bad for a first car .. personally id spend my money on something with more potential. But this is coming from the person whos first car is likely to carry a huge H on the grille :(

Thx for the welcomes guys!

Yeah it's an automatic, there wasn't a stick in my family for me to "practice" with so I decided to go that way. (although the beemers in the background have that "shifting but not really shifting" thing, forgot what it was called....steptronic???)

Yeah I was thinking about a body kit for the front bumper, the back (although i don't know if that means i'll have to get another set of vinyl for the letters.

Heh if i made my license plate fit that WHOLE spot it would be HUMONGUS!

Yeah it is brand new, well, actually, it's about 5 months old (took those pictures maybe a month 1/2 ago.) Bought it when Ford was doing there "end of the year shit we got to get rid of these since the new model is coming out" special.

You could even get better :) Fully rally prepared Mk1 Escort Twin Cam - just how rich do you want to be ?? :)

somebody told me that lowering the car is bad for it. (i forget what he specifically said it affected)

not to mention at the college here there are these nasty speed bumps all over (and as it is, there's one that if you go over the bottom of mine and 90% of the non trucks hit - which is why i go the back way now to avoid it)

You already mentioned the most obvious - speed bumps. pit holes and kerbs :)

BUT in general handling it can really screw up the geometry. Angles of wheels change as the compress. A good suspension alters the geometry to make it better at handling the compression. Putting it in that 'compressed' mode all the time can really screw up the steering and can induce much worse bump steer as well as scrubbing tyres as it'll be running bad camber.

I know there was already some issues when we put the 17 inch alessio's w/ the yoko tires. It came stock 16" and the guy at the dealership said they needed to change something electronically w/ this little device they had to help it shifting (because i was noticing some slight "dips" in certain areas like it was gaspin for fuel around the 30-35 mph range down some streets.

Originally the guy said it was gonna be some several hundred $ job o.O but he just looked around and said he'd do it to us for free, just not to tell anybody. And all he did was take this little thing, pop in some numbers, and said "done". ??? that would've cost hundreds?????

Hmmm not sure if I want to lower it then...i mean yeah it'll look nice...but i'd rather have the car last longer and not have to put more money into it because of subsequent problems.

thats a sweet ride dude. and may i ask, how old are you to be having this car for a first and are you planning on modding it at all anytime soon ?

Saleen Hobo
01-27-2005, 08:28 PM
I'm 18 (think i mentioned it somewhere before heh)

As for those asking about insurance...i don't know how much it is, we have a family plan that I fall under (and i think w/ the family plan it doesn't make it as exhorberently bad a price as some would think)

Well I was thinking of modding it, but this is my "interim" car, we leasing it (so in a certain amount of years were going to give it back) and use some of that money, and a bunch more to buy something in say the 30k range, in 4-5 years (masters) when I fully get out of college. So i want to, but aren't going to mod expensive stuff on this one since it would be pointless.

But in 4-5 years i may end up getting either a diff. make (in that amount of time a whole new slew of cars will be out) or maybe a nice Cobra/GT or something with some real horsepower and use the money to mod that since i will most likely be keeping that 2nd car until it falls apart.

Leasings are cool but only on new cars an NOT for more than 3 years.

In the UK you can lease E-types, Ferrari's, Beemers, Poersche's etc
So WHY isn't it cool NOT to lease a decent old classic car instead of some cr@p modern euro-box ??
( Sadly our company rules wont' let us lease those ones :( )

An E-type or a Prancing Horse is something completely different ;)
What I wanted to say is: why lease an old *Mustang* if a new one is available which is waaaay better ?

ah, got you, yeah unless it was a 'classic' I agree, UNLESS the price to lease older is WAY less than new and the lease company takes all the servicing and repair costs in the lease price :)

wow, you're 18 and this is your FIRST car? Well, if youve been driving your family's E38 since now i could understand. Anyways, nice job on getting a inelegantly gaudy, clumsily slow vehicle. The rims look out of place, as do the stripes and fake scoops.

thats just the thing, IF it were tasteful, i wouldnt "flame" him
and his mustang is not tasteful

if it were just any other V6 automatic mustang without the gaudy rims and stripes and scoops, id say fine...its a crappy car but at least he knows it
the problem here is that the car looks worse than a plain model and it overstates its below-average performance

it would make more sense to drive a used Camry...and actually it wouldnt be noticeably slower

Spent the weekend in Miami.

Hmm 6'bore I might actually like that if I wasn't a die-hard 49er fan and absolutely hated the oakland raiders (black n silver). And fyi i just said my first car and new because i just registered here. And it's new because even though i've had it for like 5 months there's still only 2,980 miles on it heh. (it's still my first though i was driving either my dad's 7-series, mom's 3-series, or sister jeep cherokee before that)

As for the mods, no shit, it's not a fast car. But if you you have money, why not add some stuff to just make it stand out from other similar cars. In case you didn't know, I live in FL, and down here there are an ass load of mustangs. I think my alessio's look fine, if they were 20+ inch chrome spinners then i would agree. The stripes are the exact shape of the 50th anniversary mustang that was released in the 50th anniversary red and gold stripes. But seeing as i go to gainesville and will be going to U.F. the colors = Seminole, rival, i hate that combo in my blood heh, so unless i want to get my car keyed at all the games, i went w/ the blue, but decided silver instead of orange because orange would look extensively tacky in my mind.

the rims look fine, but the suspension is F***ed, it looks like a truck! you need to lower it! hahaha, once you get that teh it looks good! :D

Blue's my favorite color, just wanted to make it an "aside" mention to him if he didn't know the actual colors of the 50th anniversary car (which my stripes were based off of) Which i think makes it unique because the 50th anniversary only comes in that burgundy/gold stripe color (i just mentioned FSU because i could only imagine what having that car would be like down here in gator town hehe)

I want to lower it, and most likely will in the near future.

no, i got a Bugatti Veyron as my first car...

seriously, at 16 i bought a '86 325e for $1000
then at 17 i bought a '87 325is for $1100
then at 18, i kept my BMW but bought a '90 Plymouth Laser Turbo for $900 and sold it a month later for $1700
then at 19 i bought the '89 325is i have now for $3600
so obvioulsy im not "rich"

anybody who knows cars and has taste and shops around can find a great car for any amount of money...the key is having taste, which this Mustang lacks

oh, and why were you rambling about Mercedes ? Do you assume that just because i like BMW that i hate Merc? Granted, they arnt what im looking for, but if one was in the market for a nice luxury vehicle, they are worth consideration

have a nice day,
