Some advice, use layers or use the selector tool when doing blurs, so u dont hit the wheels and other stuff while blurring

CdocZ

ok......so maybe it didnt die of shock, maybe of shame about how the original looked, and then just got into a severe depression about it since it couldnt further die anymore with this chop?

i think the true best way to deal with this is just to get rid of the dam prius, so he might chop something that started out looking like a car, not a lump of ill shaped metal that was just left to dry in the waste bin......

Karmann do you know what REAL carbonfibre looks? if not here is some for you to use as a guide when you "carbonize" something..
as for the chops.. the ITR looks like shit, you seriously have to look at what you do and ask yourself.. "does this look like anything REAL?" bcuz the body kit on the ITR looks like shit. seriously try to look at REAL pics and use them as guides!!

Karrmann-Slow down. Seriously. You are pumping out chops every minute, and although I have no problem with it, it will not benefit your chops. Quality over quantity. I'm 90% sure that after this post you will say something like 'I did take my time, and I saw the Digimods!.' But you need to do everything the digimods site tells you to do word for word, and until you get better you should only do what Digimods tells you to do, which means no airbrushing bodykits. If you have to airbrsh bodykits, then at least create a new layer for it and then lasso an area out for your bodykit. I don't even know why you're parts are so scrappy, if you have trouble deleting the extra shreds os picture when adding parts, lower the opacity and don't use the eraser tool, instead lasso it out. Use Alt+cilck to subtract from a lassoded area and Shift+click to add to one. At the moment, I am astounded by your incredibly poor chops. I know as a fact that perfect chops don't come after your first or second, but you've probably done 15 and you still haven't made much ground. You need to be meticulous and precise. Finally, don't use the UCP mainpage as a source for pix, but rather Matt's High Res Hide Out, for starters. You will find excellent uber-res pictures there. In short, you have the ability to be much better, but only if you take the time to.

omg.......karmann........? i think you should stop chopping......then again.....that does look relatively normal. but can you chop something besides hybrids? some people may like them.....but they arent really the kind of cars you would be obsessed about here. and i have very bad news for you. considering how much you spend to get the hydbrid version engine and everything.....you spend a few thousand dollars extra......youd have to keep the car till its dying day (and hope it lasts longer then average) if you want to actually save money on fuel. they arent that useful.

those neon chops look terrible, where is the light coming from? it looks like the lights are from the door or fenders, not from under the car. and the evo, another example of a rushed chop, just look at the chop before u say"i'm done", ask your self does this car look real? use the eraser so the over hangs( black parts) from the rims doesn't go on the tire, the mesh just looks terrible, you need to use the eraser and folow the edge of the hood so it looks real, top left corner of the windshield needs some touch up work, the fuel cap is HUGE, make it alot smaller. TAKE YOUR TIME!!!!!!

Um, why would the passenger want to stare at an HUD?

Take time to cut off excess stuff by lowering the opacity, and make your own friggin carbon fibre. Using that shitty stock piece is like making a coffin out of cereal boxes.I'm going to guess that you didn't really take the time to read my last post, and if you read this entire post then say 'Moopsy poo!' in your next post.

i agree his best chop yet.. BEFORE this Karmann was the chopper with the LEAST IMPROVEMENT PER CHOP! Seriously! Hes dont how many? and he STILL has trouble with it! I understand that hes only 13 but seriously! comeon! I hope the rest of his chops start looking as "clean" as the scooby chop..

I suggest that you go back and redo some of the older chops and improve them.. otherwise youll keep making a shitload of halfassed chosp.. that way you can also see what you did wrong the first time around.. I hope that in 5 years you can look back and laugh (hopefully by then youll be a better chopper)when you see how horrible the older chops youve made are...

nobody can pump out good chops at the rate you are. slow it down. popele spend hours upon hours on individual chops.

just go lsow and make sure everything is the way u want it. dont settle. if you have to leave it and return the next day, you arent oging to die.

Karrmann, regularly how much time does it take you to do a chop? On average?

I don't think felons could joint the ISS... ;)

Karrmann

there is no set time, all the chops take a diffrent amount of time, because I stop when I feel that i'm finished

Esperante
02-21-2005, 06:21 PM
And how long is that time, on average? Or can you at least give me a range of times? Shortest:Longest?

Karrmann

I never payed attentiuon to the times, but that one gold chop, where it is in the b'shop, took me 3 hours at least.

Here's what I want you to do. Here's a pic. Chop this pic for an hour+ each night, and then post the finished result in a week, where you'll have worked 7 hours on it. Find new ways, like cloning and using the lasso and layers effectively, to make it look really good. I trust you can do something quality. Here you go...

I'm not forcing you to do this, I just think if you followed my directions you could acheive something. Remember, take your time.

try to clean up the edges a little, take your time man. That yellow is very very yellow, tone it down a little :)

Hold on-stop-

When you de-select coloured areas, do as follows...

1-lower the opacity of the coloured level to a point where you can clearly see where the coloured area stops
2-zoom in and take off small parts of the colour slowly, making sure that you do not deselect any of the coloured areas, and that you deselect all of the uncoloured areas.

Two things-the light housings are blue-keep them yellow
The vents under the bonnet shouldn't be coloured

The only filter you should use is the twirl one. Set very low. I dont know how your doing it, But it is awfull, Did you make the pattern on a blank canvas then define it? Why is it so twisted?

Karrmann
02-22-2005, 05:50 PM
I used liquify to twist it, but thatks for the advice, i'll use that.

Karrmann
02-22-2005, 05:56 PM
better?

baddabang
02-22-2005, 05:59 PM
better?

UM.. no

did you define the pattern then open it in a new layer?
Did you select the hood into another layer and desaturate it?
You should have to shrink the pattern to make it small enough
Then you need to cut it out nicley.

All of this is in the Bible, If you followed it, I have no Idea what to tell you besides you need lots of practice :)

EDIT: to make this look nice you should take about 20 min.

holy crap karmann! since the beggining of this thread youve been imporving. its really starting to look pretty dam good. whats up with everything having a carbon hood tho? the hud thing is very cool tho. take a bit more time on the lines, some look kind of mushed together, but thats taking the time to make them even. MUCH better nowadays karmann.

Best carbon fibre yet. However, there is still so much yellow crap stick out of the car. Go around and get rid of the sharp edges. Make it so it looks realistic and you know you have a good chop. :)

Karrman, you've definately improved a hell of a lot.
Not that I know the first thing about chopping, i reckon you should choose something really tasteful, a car you really like with a few simple mods, maybe try it on paper before you do it in photoshop, and spend two or three weeks on it, just when you have a bit of time, just making it really perfect. you could work on other chops at the same time and stuff, take as long as you want.

I agree you are doing better. but like jonny said the hud is off and the spoiler is on a completly wrong angle. you could check the parts for chopping thread and maybe find a better spoiler there... ;)

Big improvement since the start Karrman, huge. The cf is looking real nice.

By the way, the car you chopped a few pages back, the red one with the lion on the front badge, that's a Holden Monaro. If you stuff up another one, i'll get you!!  :D :D :D

how long did you spend putting that wing on there? Thats what i want to know, it seems like it took about 1-2 minutes......To get it looking right you are going to have to dedicate more time to each individual modification, fot example, that wing shoul probably take you 10 minutes to finish up, the HUD 5 minutes.

I have asked you this a few times before, but, are you using the variations function to change colour? If so, i recomend you use a different method, for example lassooing off the cars body and then using the curves and/or hue and saturation, its much better.

You are getting better for sure, just still a few things that need to be fixed which impact the overall look, such as the paint.

BTW i'm purposeLy keeping the grilles yellow, cause it makes the car look better
