seeing as your the lead go to guy about fords, my dad recently aquired a ford falcon XT mk2 rs < (or something with two letters) and anyway, its a 4.0 litre four speed auto (for ease around sydney driving) and anyway, its got optional 17 inch rims, i was with him when we test drove a copy of the car @ the dealers, and that had the 17 rims. when we got our car off the truck (delivered to our door) :) excelent service! we realised on our first drive that the suspension was very much stiffer, we thought "well it isnt the tyres because weve driven this car before" so, we went hunting for a ford mk 2 XR6 (we found many) we got to one at a car park, parked it side by side, and realised that it was really close to the XR6T's height. the next day (today) we got it next to a GT, it wasnt as low as one. do you think they could have mixed up suspension parts? or just a dud one off occurance?

Was it an SR you drove at the dealers as well though? The SR pack comes with the 17's, bodykit and sports suspension to give it more appeal so that would explain it being stiffer than a "normal" Falcon XT. The suspension tune on the car is pretty special in that the engineers were able to give it sports handling without the compromise of rock hard suspension so even on the GT's, the car is fast enough through the corners and also doesnt crash over potholes and speedbumps. The only bad thing about it is the sports suspension on the XT isnt as good as that fitted to the XR's, the XR suspension setup is completely unique

hmm.. we know it was the SR, because there were two there (one with the nomal kit & the dvd player and our one with the special kit and the 6 stacker CD. (though now i think about it they both might have it)

you want to know why your car is stiffer... Ford may not have done a pre-delivery inspection on your car and have left the transport chocks in the suspension... this would make the ride super stiff... or they may have done the pre-delivery inspection but just didn't remove the transport chocks...

Could just be like holden do when they give option 17-18" wheels stick the stiffer suspension on so you dont kill the suspension in the first year of driving.

Like the guy that bought a Merc and had bigger rims stuck on the seller didnt stop to think they were bigger and needed the suspension done 2 years later this guys suspension is rat shit the dealer got sacked:p $110,000 car. The dealer wanted a sale thats all he got one allright out the door:p

Well thats what Ford do exactly, option sports suspension you gotta get bigger wheels, option bigger wheels you gotta get sports suspension. Option the V8 you gotta get both :p

The SR pack though has both anyway as well as the bodykit, rear spoiler, sports shifter....couple of other small things

They definately screwed up with the suspension though, if it truly is the XR suspension then you've definately got a unique car.

Issues like that with the interior arent uncommon, comes with them being a low cost mass produced car

Yeah engine's the same as an XT, the XR6 has the XR suspension which is stiffer than the sports suspension that shouldve been on your XT SR :p The XR6's got power rear windows and a few other things in the interior. They sell so damn many of them cause theyre only about $300 more than a Futura

the inspector said that the suspension was definately from a XR8.

so i guess uniqueness is pretty cool :P

XR8 specifically? Or just the XR? When the BA was first released, the XR6, XR6T and XR8 shared the exact specification suspension. Gave the XR6 and XR6T great handling but didnt accomodate for the big lump of iron in the XR8 known as the BOSS :p So for the Mk2 update that and the GT got stiffer front springs. Considering your's is a Mk2 if you really did get the XR8 suspension, not only is it unique to an XT but its also unique to a I6

I would have thought the V8 suspension was not compatible with the 6cyl as the V8 is heavier over the front wheels. That would maek it pretty stiff.

Well you can get too stiff in that it sacrifices ride quality day to day which usually isnt preferable. You gotta have it all balanced to get the optimum :p

Thats pretty good all things considered, but anything bigger even with the stiffer suspension i wouldnt try it, like a Falcon or anything. Its cause the Datto's so freakin light. At least it should make the hillclimb events and such you enter more interesting, as the day goes by you'll be continually trying to carry more speed into each corner

Nah it's really balanced good for a old thing, It gets the squills a little but never picks a wheel up , Well i really cant see to be honest:D.
But it's a hard car to get sideways does some good wheelies to but not much sideways action. The VL calais wheels do have less grip then the old VX interceptors did but it's only in the wet i can tell it's less grippy:)

Well if theyre suspension settings are close to the Carrera Cup settings, no surprise really either as theyre fairly stiffly sprung as well. It'd look alot funnier seeing a 911 on 3 wheels than an Integra or Clio though :p

VL Calais panhardrod he done, I don't know if they are any differnt but it feel so much tighter at the rear, Before the old one was worn and the holes were getting bigger in it the rear shifting was very uncomfy :(

Now needs some front shocks, Got the Vl's shocks on the back. Would like to lower it maybe 1" just to settle it more all over, But it's allright on fast corners.

Maybe he used a touch of the handbrake :p you'd imagine with one wheel up on the back theres less braking force there, its when theres less at the front you have to worry.

If you do end up lowering it though make sure whatever shocks stay on or what you stick on are suitable for the new ride height otherwise you'll bottom out in the shocks whilst theres still suspension travel

The only problem with that will be if you start getting it too stiff, the car will act like its driving around on 50psi, like which youve said before is better for wheelspin as theres no give in either the suspension or tyres, which you'll appreciate one the L18 gets in there and its doing the big revs out of corners :p

Ive seen a 1200 coupe which had i think 15inch tyres on there and they really filled out the guards with a set of 45 profile tyres on there so they could do alot for the looks of the car, without getting too bling :p

a turbo puts you in a diff category
a non road legal car is a diff category (mines road legal apparently)
and i think a heavily tuned car moves you up a category ie: 400HP SR20DET in a datto moves from 2000cc turbo to 3000+ turbo

The heavily modded part sounds a bit sus, could throw you from a category youre dominating to one you suck at.....i mean a hipo SR20 then would be up against a sedate RB26

(i havent crack 60 secs yet) so yeh must be careful, as long as i stay NA i should be pretty right even if i go turbo eventually i wont end up with those guys:)

i stayed about 600m away from the main party avenue, you get a lot more for your money - we had our own spa, full kitchen, cable tv, 6 beds etc. try and get as many people with you so the cost is lower

yeah its difficult for new players because the game still plays the same as it did 5 years ago, thats a hell of a lot of catching up to do

its an add on for battle feild 1942. based in arabic countries. its so cool, i prefer to go the axis (evil, (arabic)) side, coz i really dont like to play as USA, but i prefer the US wepons and technical objects (planes, choppers (my speciality) etc.

well after a brutal three hours we all had fun and after i remembered all the keys and commands i showed that i was worth something. after all i brought us from a 0 - 2 score to 5-3 on capture the flag. every. single. flag my team captured was my steal and my run back to the base (courtesy of some flying cover though) and im not a bad sniper either... ask your mates on the other team about that;)
