that list needs a little bit of updating. from what i know, the fastest accelerating production car is the Ford RS200 2.1L Cosworth, which did 0-60mph/97km/h in 3.02 seconds. ive seen tons of cars get faster but they were either aftermarket or prototypes.

The Murcielago should be on the list, as well as the Veyron.
The Murcielago hits 0-60mph in 3.8 seconds. Car and Driver tested one that hit 0-60mph in 3.5 seconds!

dont you think that its weird, that italy's top engineers and test drivers can list times for their cars, but when american journalists get their hands on the cars they shave tenths of a second off that? ive heard people quoting 3.3 seconds 0-100km/h for the new ford GT and although im glad its that fast, i think its rediculous when it wasnt that long ago someone only got 3.8 which is still blindingly fast

Its a 572cu.in. 770hp concept car, so I don't think it should be considered ... then again no body said the cars had to be production cars so you could add the Dodge Tomahawk onto the list too. :)

and also, the VW W12 wasn't on the list, why? it goes to 60 in 3.4 seconds.
and something that's funny is, this Mercedes can go faster than most supercars of today and it was built in 1938.

1. The first on that list is a Dauer/Porsche, not a Bugatti.

2. We're talking about production cars here, so that Camaro is off the list.

Currently, the record for fastest-accelerating production car (at least from 0-60) is the Tiger Z100 WR, at 2.8 seconds. That, too, is using road-legal tires! Nice...

Did I mention that it weights 660kg, and has 360hp? :D

i know..thats why you can't comment on a car performance, just by getting its engine information or weight .... coz it could be sumthin about it we can't see...i hope you follow me... :D

The fastest production, street legal super car to have been tested is the Dauer 962 Le Mans, with a time of 2.6 secs and a top speed of 404kph (just under 250 mph) The time it posted was also accomplished with street tires not slicks. This a production, street legal car that you can conceivably purchase, if you have $800,000+ in change. Being a production car simply means it came out of testing and prototype stage to be produced as road going vehicle to be sold, regaurdless of the number of vehicles produced...making the 962 a production vehicle. Vehicles such as the Hennessey Venom 800TT that claim to do 0-60 in 2.4 seconds are modified cars built by tuners with aftermarket parts, it would be no different than taking a honda putting enough nitrous and aftermarket parts in it to bosst the horse power to around 1000 and achieving sub 3 0-60 times, although it is based off a production car..realistically all that remains the same in these cars is the body design and the chasis. In essence these carse dragsters not street-legal road going cars. It all depends on what type of category of cars you are talking about. However strictly by the numbers the 962 beats the Mclaren F1 lm, Enzo, and claimed speed by Veyron (which has yet to be officially tested) If you would like more info on the specifications, history, and abilities of the Dauer 962..check out the site:

Wasnt that car built purely for that very reason, most supercars arn't built just to go in a straight line. Im unsure however about the VW W12 and cant b stuffed looking it up.
