Yeah i seen the crossfire on 5th gear, He wasnt to impressed by it, Not huge on power soft on handling, Hey the 2004 HSV GTS gave it a bath here:D

Was shocked to see it's german made english designed:eek: It's a merc under skin.

yeah, the srt engines have some merc engineering there. which is very funny about the viper, as its ford-subsidy designed mostly, lamborghini block, and some mercedes engine technologies. lol, nothing is done in a single country anymore.

firstly, the SRT motors are very different from each other, the SRT-4 motoruses no merc parts/tech, its a stroked hopped up neon/pt cruiser motor built for boost by dodges PVO. the srt-6 is a mer motor thru and thru, the SRT-6 isnt much more than a reskinned clk320... the SRT-8's are dodge built hemi's with again no mer influences, probably built by PVO as well.

and finally the srt-10, firstly NOTHING about that motor has anything to do with lambo, the block isnt based off a lambo motor or produced by lambo. second i highly doubt it has any merc engeering in it either, it is also produced by the PVO. chrystler dabled in a lambo built Viper motor when the car first was concieved but deemed it to expensive and impractical. so they went to work on their own design, which is what the current 8.3 liter motor is based off of today.

wasnt the original viper block from lamborghini? (not the srt-10, the orignal rt-10)

thats what im saying, chrystler ownd lambo at teh time, and had them start working on the motor, but they deemed it too expensive and impractical and went to work ont heir own design, which the SRT-10 motor is based off

I very much doubt that the Crossfire's a faster car than the Porsche Carrera...But the Viper, well... :D

Both the Crossfire SRT-8 and the Porsche 911 Carrara (non-S) run in the mid to low 13s. So yes, its possible that a Crossfire SRT-8 could be a 911 in a strait line.
And yes, the Crossfire SRT-8 has 5 more peak hp than the 911 Carrera and close to 40 more peak ft-lbs of torque.

teh crossfires SRT version is the SRT-6 not the SRT-8, the magnum and 300c have SRT-8 counterparts

CAR tested the Crossfire and said it was only good in a straight line. They pretty much rippped it up. EVO gave the Porsche 911 Carrera S Car Evo Car Of The Year if that says anything. I may be gettin the mags mixed up but id much rather have a porsche over a chrysler.

Not just a Mercedes, but a 1996 vintage Mercedes.

Even if the Crossfire SRT-8 did have Porsche like accelation, it can't be compared to a Porsche in any way. The 911 is a pure breed sports car, the Crossfire SRT-8 is......uh.....besides ugly, I don't know what it is:)

I agree, the Porsche is a much, MUCH better car and it is really hard to believe that the crossfire could actually beat it

The Porshce is also a MUCH more expencive car. But whats so hard to believe that the Crossfire SRT-6 can match it in a strait line? Its got more power and torque, and weighs about the same.

Personally (this may surprise you guys) I'd go with the Porsche. The Crossfire isn't correctly proportioned to my eyes, and hey - when you build a sportscar, build a SPORTSCAR. Porsche still does that, for the most part.

I think the fact that the Crossfire is based on a 1996 car is a very good reason to the price difference.

Chrysler Crossfire SRT-6 $49,120
2002 Mercedes SLK32 AMG (basically the same car) $31,775
1996 Porsche 911 Turbo ~$50,000 if you are lucky

Were comparing it to the 05 Porsche though.
Either way I would rather pay more and get the Porsche, Im not a big fan of the crossfire.
BTW the SLK 32 AMG is $55,000.

No one actually specified which 911 it was ;)

2002 SLK32 can be had for $32,000 used.

Yeah this is the same kid, still makin stupid threads. I don't think there is any way a crossfire can beat a porsche. I don't even think the srt 6 would have a chance at a porsche. The only thing that is probably better in the srt6 is acceleration. Porsche has a higher top speed though. Im still goin with the porsche.
