Hi everybody,
I saw "Le Mans" with Steve McQueen and I was very surprised by his car.
If anybody possess a video of Porsche 917 (or alfa romeo 33) I will be interested in.

I saw one at the goodwood festival of speed on TV. Honestly, the sound scared me to death. It was so intimidating.

Cool thing. I loved the movie. If you are car freak, you really enjoy the scenes. What I especially liked is that sometimes there is no conversation for half an hour, just sound of Porsche & Ferrari.

Such movies are rare, and will never be made again. Porsche & Ferrari gave their cars for shooting, Steve M. had a camera on his private car in 1970 Le Mans race to shoot the scenes for the movie! That could never happen again!!! In today racing movies S. Stallone drives a Indy Car (probably made on computer) through the city, hahaha!!!!

Apparently, 917 is a good thing to buy at the moment. It is not priced very high and everybody estimates that price is going to go up a lot in the future. However, it costs lot of money already now, so no such worries for me :)))

ohh do you know that history about 917k and ettore fittipaldi? :D

once he deciced to take his mother for a ride because he wanted to show her how does it look from the inside
it was on interlagos, after the first corner she screamed but later she didn't say anything until the finish line. when he looked at her, he realised she already fainted :D

Those just weren't enough. Apprently, the 512's couldn't keep up with the porsches.

At that time Ferrari put only a halfhearted attempt in getting the 512's competitive. When it was developed they were also running the F1 team, the F2 1600's, the Can-Am programme and the 2-litre hill climb special. They could not continue this and discontinued the latter three, and concentrated on the development of the new 312PB, which did become the standard of prototype racing in 1972 and 1973.
The blue Sunoco 512M prepared by Penske for Mark Donohue showed what speed could be gotten from the 512M, and it was up to par with the 917's, but it was only one car.
