Yep, Suzuki's ugly beast :)

Looks like bullshite to me. The top speed of the Suzuki is about 200, I think the official figure is 196 or thereabouts. Not long after it came out they were electronically restricted to 189mph, due to an agreement made by bike manufacturers (akin to the German 155mph one I guess) if memory serves. Because 189mph is a lot safer than 196mph.

The guy passing the camera bike is easily doing in excess of 30mph more than our cameraman, which logically brings us to a figure of a minimum of 220mph for the Suzuki GSX1300R (or "bewzer" as the chap insists on calling it).

Standard "bewzers" don't do 220mph.

maybe it was modified? you CAN modify bikes as well as cars ya know! :p

there was a guy in wisconsin that got a ticket for going 195 in a 65 on a modified bike

maybe it was modified? you CAN modify bikes as well as cars ya know! :pNo %&@# sherlock! In which case the point being made is thoroughly moot, since there's little to be proved by racing standard bikes against modified ones. I failed to point out the obvious, sorry. :)

Did it say it was standard anywhere ?
There are lots of HIGHLY tuned 'Busa's out there and most of the ones on Europe come to the IoM for the TT and rip up the roads :)
The R1 isn't as "tunable" as the 'busa has proven to be.
But agreed, we're not comparing stock with stock !!

Sorry my fault for short-hand :)
Isle of Man Tourist Trophy races.
2 weeks of bike fun on an island with no speed limits on the mountain roads.
unfortunately there are 50,000 bierks on the island all consummin vast amounts of alcohol and other drugs in between the races :)
Had an American friend come over for it a few years back and it changed his view on motorbikes :)

Yep, bloody brilliant fast bike - sadly NOT made for guys who are "challenged" aroudn the waistline :(

[R1]Yep, bloody brilliant fast bike - sadly NOT made for guys who are "challenged" aroudn the waistline :(

150mph on the back of my brother's R1 across the mountains (A section of the IOM 'track' for MP) on mad sunday (The day when all and sundry are allowed to tear arse around the circuit legally for free, with both the left and right hand lanes available for use, since everyone has to go around the same way) convinced me that getting a bike is just something I got to do. Unfortunately it's not really an option financially right now. Just running a sodding four wheeler alone costs me enough. I'm contemplating learning to ride this year or next so that when I do want a bike, I'll have had my licence a few years, thusly gaining cheaper insurance.

And the TT is indeed a fantastic event. Quite costly for transport, but bearing in mind the race viewing comes free, it's not all bad. Well worth seeing, even if you're not a bike person, the atmosphere is awesome.

I have the dvd that clip came from, it was either Mach 2 or 3 there on the same dvd and i dont feel like looking for that scene. Both bikes are completley stock. The R1 is not doing 190mph, more like 175-185. Manufacturers purposley make the bikes read fast so that people get into less trouble (cops and injury). My Hayabusa did until I corrected it with a smaller sprocket. These are great videos, I would recommend them.

how fast 0-60 is your huyabusa?

Matra et Alpine
02-09-2005, 03:28 PM
What top speed ?
The top speed of the first 'busas were 196ish mph. THEN they were all limited to 189mph.
That is overtaking WAY faster than 10-15mph. So I contend it is NOT stock at least the limiter has been removed and I suggest akro cans fitted :)

thanks for clearing that up matra, i think its just insane to go 200+ mph on a nike, much less on public roads, i think the fastest ive ever gone on a bike would be 80 ish but that was a dirt bike

When the ZX-12 came out the IoM was full of German bikers who came over for the TT and would go out early morning. I "encountered" one when I was flat out on the mountain course and he overtook me on the inside of a corner. He was doing well into the 170s !!
5am on the TT course is there for all the nutters who want to ride their bike nuts-out and time themselves. The locals know to keep off and the police come along to scoop up the spots :(
