This isnt a 20 questions type of quiz, its pretty close to Egg Nog's, but i wont be the one asking all the questions and it wont be on a weekly basis. How its going to work, is someone will ask a question and offer at least 4 multiple questions. To start off, i will ask the question. People will then guess whoch one they think is correct, and after either all possible answers have ben chosen or the question has been running for a couple of days, the person asking the question will tell the answer. Whoever was the first to ask the question then gets to ask the next question. If the situation arises that the person asking the question gave the wrong answer, if possible the person who guessed the correct answer will take the next question, but if that is not possible i will take the question.

OK then now for the first question:
What engine did the XR Falcon GT have?

a) 302 Windsor V8
b) 289 Windsor V8
c) 351 Windsor V8
d) 351 Cleveland V8

unfortunately it seems the question i asked is too hard for anyone who isnt either a falcon enthusiast or an australian car enthusiast. the answer was the 289 windsor V8 so take it away Touran

ok i feel obliged to start this all over again with a much easier question for the non-australian members of the site.

which model porsche 911 was the first with a water cooled engine?

a) 930
b) 964
c) 993
d) 996

baddabang

Yep it is the 996. I think the first ever water cooled engine Porsche used was in the Porsche 928 in 1977 with a water cooled V8.

as for the first question, I'd say D, considering A & B don't exist.

i shouldnt be bothering with this since i gave up on the first question after only one person had a guess, then deleted their post, but the 289W was the right answer for the XRGT and the 302W was first in the XTGT and has featured in many Australian cars including the XC Falcon Cobra, every XR8 until the BA model and was stroked to 5.6L for the 2002 model TE50

SHAKER

dont worry about it, now you know for next time. i dont see why so little people have guessed the latest question, its not that hard

Egg Nog

Obviously it's the r26b. Or wait a second, maybe the rb26dett from the Skyline GTR is a rotary ;)

fpv_gtho
01-22-2004, 08:12 PM
Guys, its a trick question, look really hard at the first 3, as for the r26b, thats the Mazda 787B's engine. since Egg Nog and SHAKER guessed d) and i just went and opened my mouth about it, take another turn

Egg Nog
01-22-2004, 08:16 PM
Oh, 12B rotary... :)

fpv_gtho
01-22-2004, 08:26 PM
the 12A rotary started it all with Mazda. The legendary 13B was in a host of Rotaries that spawned the RX-7 and RX-8. The 20B triple rotor appeared in some Eunos models and the R26B as stated before was the engine that gave Mazda the title of the only rotary to win LeMans and the only japanese manufacturer to win.

so Egg Nog is right, the 12B doesnt exist

HoldenHFV6
01-22-2004, 09:29 PM
Actually it was the 10A that started it.

fpv_gtho
01-22-2004, 11:44 PM
lol aw well, my mistake, why dont we just say the "A" rotor started it all.

SHAKER
01-23-2004, 01:46 AM
SHIT A ROTARY WON LEMANS? win did this happen?lol..any info and specs on the lemans rotory?

fpv_gtho
01-24-2004, 01:38 AM
basically,
4x654cc rotary, engine code R26B R4,
naturally aspirated,
700hp @ 9000rpm
608nm @ 6500rpm
830kg
Mazda/Porsche 5 speed manual
rear wheel drive

it won in 1991 and 4923.2km was completed at an average speed of 205.133km/h

SHAKER
01-25-2004, 12:49 AM
so it was a long time ago, do they still race rotaries at lemans?....so it was a twin 13b or a single quad rotor?

fpv_gtho
01-25-2004, 12:55 AM
im not quite sure, i think its just a single unit quad rotary but pretty soon after it won the rotary got banned from LeMans or something

fpv_gtho
01-25-2004, 06:58 AM
Oh, 12B rotary... :)

after all this talk of the rotary winning lemans i almost forgot about Egg Nog taking his turn to ask a question

DasModell
