Well guys, I finally got rid of the Grand Am(IT) because I got a stellar deal on a new truck. The truck in question is a Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Crew Cab. It has a red exterior and dark gray leather interior. I'm gonna be posting a few pics over the next lil bit and will have the UCP Ownership proof tomorrow, I forgot what it was we were supposed as proof until I got on here tonight and it was too dark outside to get a good pic. So, for those interested...enjoy....

The following pictures are of the truck with tint and tint only, I just had it done in 15% to match the rear.

These pics were taken this afternoon after I got home from work.. I really must appologize for the poor quality, better to come later. My truck is also quite dirty, it's been raining non-stop for about a week and I haven't cleaned it....

and the 327 small block V8(for those interested, i average anywhere between 19 and 21mpg depending on how aggresive i am on the throttle. It gets better mileage than our Avalanche and we've determined it's due in part to the 3.42 gear)

Nice truck, Mr Vette. I personally have a 2001 1500HD. It's a crew like yours, but with a bit longer bed (I think) and the 6 liter V8. 19-21 mpg is a dream with the big V8 and 4.10 gears!

I'd imagine soo, my choice would have been a 2500 Duramax, but this is what I've got, and I'm quite pleased so far.

Nice Car

Now all it needs are wire rims, hydrolics, and a killer sound system in the trunk and you'll be PIMPIN :D

I drive only a few miles every day, to and from school through town, and get about 9 mpg with my dakota (4.22 gears, 4.7 l v-8), thats with the occasional burnout and donut though :p

Thanks guys for the compliments thus far, and I'll get right on those wire wheels and the system in the "trunk". Here's the UCP ownership challenge pics, if you guys want any other pics of any kind just ask. I installed Ventshade ventvisors on it this evening and will post pics of them this weekend sometime....

Those 6.0 trucks are quick. My dad raced one in his Mach 1 and it kept up with us until we hit the powerband.

haha. your shifter knob looks like its rapeing the paper.

Anways, none the less, the truck looks great although im not really a big fan of the new looks chevy gave their new trucks. Just isn't my taste I guess. I think they should have kept the 99-02 (i think) generation look. :)

Yeah, i think they have 285 hp stock don't they? My brothers got the 04 2dr Silverado w/ 285 hp. Those trucks and the new Titans can get it up :D

I'll second that, I preferred that fascia to the current one. But I guess I don't really dislike it either.

The Escalade's the ugly one from the front

Anyway, grats on your twuck. We got a truck not too long ago as well, and they're really nice to drive.

Those are fine trucks indeed. Good job.

I myself would've gotten one with the 4-wheel steer. Those are bad-ass :D

Yeah, I really like the look of the GMC Sierra trucks which is basically the same as the silverado, Just with a better look. ;) :D

Specially the 2 door sportside ones :D which they don't make any more i think. :(

Yeah, they GMC's are badass. I even have to admit to having a soft spot for the Yukon Denalis, just on looks.

Radoman
02-22-2005, 09:41 PM
Every Denali I've ever gotten was poorly kept, the interior just ripe with human or old food stench. And I never could figure out what the point was when the stock Yukon looks pretty much the same only not quite so glitzy and silly.

On that note, those new Equinox's are nice. I'm also pleased with the Canyon/Colorado. The build quality is several steps up from the old Sonoma.

I can't speak for GMC as having a 100% knowledge, but I know that they still make the silverado in 2dr sportside, we had one in the shop today with 36 miles on it, an 05. There was also a comment to the 6.0 hp rating, to my knowledge they pack 320, the 5.3 that's in my truck is sold in three version, 285, 295, and 300, I'm not sure as to what mine is though. For the build quality on the Colorado, this may be true, but the I5 still has some problems, we had one in the other day with an SES light on, before it got out of there, it had a new head, 2 new valve springs, and one new exhaust valve, all before the second oil change. We had one come in today with the same symptoms :( But I'm not saying they're a bad truck, just something I've noticed.

Nice truck. Any plans? Lowering/raising? Vortech makes a supercharger kit that'll put down 370hp and 400lb-ft at the crank. That'll make for surprising some Honda kids. :)

They make all kinds of superchargers for the silverado's with LOTS of hp and Tq gains. I've seen one supercharger that gives up to 90 percent hp and tq but don't know how well it is but still, thats ALOT of gains. You can make these trucks really fast.

I've been having dirty thoughts about this one: http://www.whipplesuperchargers.com/product.asp?ProdID=1136

As for power ratings, my truck is rated to 300, the Denalis are rated to 335 and the newer 3/4 ton versions are rated at 325 I believe. Those are all with the 6 liter V8. I haven't driven a Denali, but my dad has an 04 3/4 ton suburban and while I'm sure the extra weight affects it, the extra 25 horsepower doesn't seem to change anything.

He probably had the 325hp 6.0. I was surprised how quick it was, for sure. Chevy knows a thing or two bout engines even though they use the "old fashioned" pushrod engines ;)

The "Old Fashioned" design is something that in the past 50 years chevy has honed to a fine science. They've come along way since the Gen-I small block started showing up in the Vette and pickup trucks in 55. As for extreme mods, let's wait until after 36,000 or 36 months, whichever comes first. I've thought about a cowl hood(either a 2 or 4 inch riser) but want it to be on my truck for a reason(like maybe not enough room now that there's an 8:71 blower under there.

Yes they are, trust me, I tried to park a De Ville at work the other day and completely overshot the spot and had to back up. It may have been harder to park if I weren't already used to driving my dad's Avalanche, they're fairly comparable in length so it was a quick transition.

Thank you; just wait til I get the billet bow-tie. From ones o've seen it sets it off quite nicely.

Yeah, I work at a GM dealership... :p

Not for long, hopefully. I might up and leave at the summer.

Amen. Don't let anybody beat up on you drivin for something with an old OHV lump or anything, the pushrod engines are alive and well and Chevy does a helluva job building em. Most guys would quit beating up on pushrods if they got behind the wheel of something with an LS/1...
