The new Saleen S281 is a disappointment. Although it may look outstanding, it is weak.

are they "weak"???? LOL most opinions ive heard about the mustang from various people including top gear video approve of the mustang in its performance soooo its hardly weak and it looks sick in yellow :)

450? Not on the S281. Try 325. The accleration has only been increased by a tenth on its sprint to 60.

i've driven a saleen supercharged mustang GT(2000 model) and the car was badass......tho i was only able to make it to 8.3 secs down the 8th mile, the car had stock weight and a crappy posi traction.

get your facts straight. The S281 has 450hp while the S281E has 500hp.

I think he means a simple S281. An S281sc, E, or any other special form of it is about as week as arnold swarchenegger.

I have to agree that the black panel IS the only thing. (other than the weak engine of course)

Dude, your talking about something they barely touched. Tell that to the SC or E, each with 500+ horsepower.

But it isn't the SC Or the E. It's the base model. And even though it is only the base, it's still a Saleen. It should never be just "barely touched". It doesn't have to break records, but it should do a better job of out performing the stock GT.

Its for people who want a Saleen, but things like the design or the name. The Cobra Mustangs for the 04 models only had a 25 horsepower increase (if that) for the base model, and Cobra is quite well known for their Mustangs.
EDIT: The Cobra you see at like every Ford dealership, because it is basically just a Mustang with a tiny bit more power and Cobra's name on it.

Yes, but Ford is an automaker without a heart. They are now getting back to making what they used to make, cars built for people who want a great car. The old mustangs were hacks, a car I wouldn't take if I were living on the streets with nothing else to drive. The new Cobras should prove that Ford really wants to attract enthusiasts again. At least, I hope so.

2004 Base model: V6, 193hp
2004 GT: V8, 305hp
2004 Cobra: V8, 390hp
So it's not really a "25hp increase (if that)", it's actually more than double the power of the base model.

sorry to correct ya egg, but the 04 model GT came with about 260(round 240 to the wheels), the GT bullit came with about 5hp more, the 05's come with 300:).

Thats for the V6. Sorry, I should have clarified that I meant V8's.

I swear I saw one on the highway. It was like the one posted, it had a white paint job and 2 blue stripes down the center. Looks pretty nice. I dunno why anyone would call it "weak". It does have a large engine, and the weight is good to. It only wieghs 3550 pounds. Which is pretty good IMO.
