The white car in #6
Does anyone know if it is a LP400S2, a LP500S or a LP5000S?

I'd say a 5000S, it looks to me like a run out model (huge spoiler, beefy rims, wheelarches, etc).

How can you tell the diference?
Apparently "The most noticable difference in the cars was the more pleasant styling of the fender flares and front spoiler. The rear did receive some minor restyling."

But I can't see it. Jut not familiar enough with the details.
Maybe it's easier with a direct comparison of two cars next to each other.

There was also this Countach with a spoiler on the nose!

BTW, does anyone have pics of the yellow Countach prototype in hi-res? I requested it, but no one reacted:o

Yes. In fact the Anniversario (all) adopted the American style large rear bumper. They also all had the American style rear end cap giving the tail lights a "sunken" appearance.

And American market cars after circa 1987 had the lower engine cover b/c of the fuel injection system. Rest of world cars had the famous "hump" to clear the 6 carbs.

I helped the owner of this 25th anniversary Lamborghini Contach out a few weeks ago. He came out on Sunday and I managed to wrestle a photoshoot out of him.

This car is awefully low, but very cool looking in person.

It has the unfortunate US bumpers, doesn't it? Other than that a great car.

i prefer the first models, the countach became to much overloaded by details over the years. it's still a good looking car in its last interpretations, but they showed too much the signs of time, they aged it. maybe something similar happened to the diablo. while the murcielago it's continuously improving...:)

I quite agree. The LP400 and the early LP400S are the best of the bunch, that's for sure. I guess that what happened to the Countach happened also to other 70's and 80's sportscars like the 911 or the Corvette, they designed the car in the 70's (or late 60's with the Corvette) and then with the oil crisis and recessions (or other reasons) they ran out of money to make replacements for them so they kept updating the old cars.

All this was solved in the mid 80's to early 90's when they launched the Diablo, the 964-series 911 and the Corvette C4 respectively.

good point, even if of these cars, the countach got the worst updates imo. to say the truth, the various creations of Vector help me to dislike the latest versions of it.
oh, you forgot the mustangs!
also the ferraris looked very similar in the 70-80 period, think about the 365 gtc and the 512 bb, or the 308 and the 328 or lately the 348 and the 355 (which i love), but in a less evident way. but at least all of these cars look still beautiful today, while a countach anniversary is nearly embarassing to drive around.:)

i didn't mention the Testarossa/512TR/512M (13 years!) because i like too much the second:p
btw, ferrari always used to upgrade constantly and slowly its lineup

Well see it this way, a Countach 25th Anniversary is just a cheap way of driving a Pagani... :)

Hopefully, these images are of sufficient girth in order to actually stay posted.

As far as being embarrassed to drive the anniversary Contach around, no way! The car is nuts. Yes, the bumpers are not the kindest design. That's bureaucracy for you. They also can be taken off. Some of the swoops and swoshes could be deleted, if you were so inclined. However, this is still a 12 cylinder monster and one of the most recognized cars in the world.

Furthermore, its really nice to see this car driven. The owner drove for an hour plus to come to our Sunday morning car meet affectionately know as "Church of the Holy Donut". Too many of these cars don't get driven. I don't think that is because of embarrassment but more fear of breaking or devaluing the car. For the enthusiast, that is unfortunate. Kudos to those exotic owner brave enough to venture out to the public rows to share their passion whilest enduring the inherent risks of the open road.

Sorry to revive an ancient thread, but is the silver Anniversario Countach in the studio shots (post #3-4-5) the last-of-line example which is kept in the factory museum? I am curious about the exact production year and can't find it in the on-line registry.

Sam and I have already planned to rent a Ferrari spider of some generation for our wedding day. That is going to be of huge value to myself :D. How much I value it in comparison to the actual day itself, I should not disclose :p. Lucky for me, her dad has great connections! I can't wait :)

lol basically what John said :p. I'm in training to be a financial advisor, after quitting my last career as a 4th year plumbing apprentice. I've always had a thing for investing, and my fiancé's father recognized that and let me join their team.

I didn't know that was possible in a Lambo.

I wonder how much of that slide was intentional and how much of it was the Lamborghini actively trying to kill the driver.
