Cool cars, but you got a few wrong. The Mustang is a 429 and the Camaro is just an SS.

*sighs* Where did the class go with America. I'd actually prefer to own one of these rather than one of their newer counterparts in most cases, despite the short comings (No Aircon, etc.)

The Viper does nicely, but the Vette has gone soft. The new GTO is more a competitor to the G35 and Acura TL then the Honda S2000, much less the Mustang. We have the Mustang and the Viper........woo. Back in the days the ratio compared to SUV : normal car, was the same as the muscle car : normal car. I wish that was true, but not just for muscle cars, all cool cars.

Yeah? No kidding! The S2000's a full blown sports car, the GTO's based off a family sedan, its no contest there.

Wonder how many knew that the Chevelle SS was a Holden Monaro undedkin :)
It's almost like it is today with the new GTO but this car was built in the u.s Not a rebage. It's a little more like Commodore - omega but closer. Take a close look;)

I think thats more subjective than anything else though :p You cant deny the links between some of the US muscle cars and what Holden and Ford turned out through the 70's here though, ive lost count for how many times ive mistaken XB Falcon Hardtops as 69-71 Mustang's at first glance

It was a site i read it. They also said in the early 50's there was a Aussie designed car for the u.s but the name lost me cause we never got it.
But for the chevelle it was like omega commodore cause it was based off it and made to be bigger. Wish i could get that site again had something to do with pontiac Gto's old and new.

Well AFAIK, the old Chevelle's etc where still using ladder frame chassis, whilst Ford and Holden were pioneering monocoque construction pretty early, so i dont know how that wouldve affected things.

Well, who knows, that just might be why! The one real question here is why your smartass comment was neccasary?

Sorry, it just sounded like one of those "(sarcastic tone): Oh wow! Wonder why? (whishpers something about other person being stupid)" type things. I probably did misunderstand it.

Well, I'm sort of over muscle cars now, I'm more into cruisers. But here are my favorites, in order:

'69 Plymouth GT/x Convertible - I'll take mine in 440 6-pack with 4-speed flavor, thank you. To me, the second best looking muscle car made, period, and with a great lineup of engines - 383, 440 4bbl, 440 6-pack, and 426 Hemi. The Dodge Super Bee and Plymouth Road Runner, essentially low-buck versions of the GT/x also count in my book, but I would prefer a GT/x to those.

'70 Challenger - A great car with a killer engine lineup similar to the GT/x. Lookswise, my top pick.

'64 Galaxie 427 - one of the early full-size muscle cars, packed with the 427 Side-oiler for NASCAR homologation. Also a great looking car, to me.

'70 Chevelle SS454 LS/6 - Quintessential muscle car styling, and an utter legend. Also my first muscle car love.
