I think its safe to say that everyones aware of the release of GT4 now and about 1 in every 2nd person actually owns the game, so i got thinking. Sarthe and the original Nurburgring being featured as 2 of the available tracks was one of the most talked about points leading up to the games release, and being the 2 longest tracks in the game makes them more than a handful.

So what are everyones best times? Ive gotten a low 7"00"00 around the 'Ring and on Sarthe without the chicanes ive gotten around 4"30"00. Now surely there'd be alot of people to get faster times than that, so share away....

Maybe it'd be good stating what car you did 7 mins round the ring in?

My friend brought over his PS2 last night with GT4. Great game, i clocked somewhere around an 8 minute lap of the ring in a DB9, but that's with very little practice. I don't have a PS2, i do have an Xbox though, so it makes my anticipation for Forza that much more intense.

i can only tell you my time for the italian city course in the GT4 prologue, haven't got my GT4 yet! But here it goes,

With a Race car , no aids - Nissan skyline Race car - 1:29.857

with a Road Car, no aids, road tyres, manual gears, - Mercedes SL55AMG - 1:49.959

It's my favourite track in the prologue dvd, i'll start posting my times on GT4 when i get it.. :)

I can get 0'00.15 if I stop the timer. :p

But really around 7 min or so around the N-ring in my Nissan race car. I'll do sarthe later today. I'm running 24 hours around the N-ring right now. :)

Smashed my record. 6'32.02 around the N-ring in my Nissan R92CP race car on medium racing tires withought nitrous(which does take about 10 seconds off my time). Hopefully I'll be faster once I get my F1 car. :)

I can do the straight on sarthe II in about 5 seconds at about 2000 mph if I use mega-turbo on my cheat disc. :p

I'd like to add to this: A screen shot should be posted w/ the time for a legitimate score.

I done a 57s lap around Laguna Seca on GT3 a while ago, but after that i didnt really bother trying to go any faster, as the faster the lap went, the more it hinged on how well i took the corkscrew.

It can drive you insane battling your elite ghost replay after you've been trying to beat your 'best' time out of boredom for a while. :o

first lap out in a stock Mazda RX-8 LM Concept Car (well i did turn ACS off completely and TCS down to 1, and also modified the LSD, but stock otherwise) plus a few "offs" and i did a 6'42.006 on the Nurburgring (on my bunky PS1 controller, because i had a fit of rage and broke my PS2 one, and i haven't bought a steering wheel yet...

and just in, second lap of Le Sarthe 3'54.102 with the RX-8 above...

probably a few seconds to be had in both laps but not bad for a stocker... will try my M5 around both now...

EDIT: that Le Sarthe time was done on Le Sarthe I and not on Le Sarthe II...

What was your "fit of rage" about? Lose an endurance race? (that would suck majorly)

nah i just get narked when i am on a hot lap and i put a tyre off and spin or some dumb shit like that... and some of the missions on GT4 can be pretty difficult...

Ouch. Some of the later missions are hard as hell.

I'll have better times once I get my black formula 1. Just 100 (200? 300?!) more races!!

after much frustration at how much oversteer the '05 M5 has, and many aborted laps, my first full lap of the Nurburgring was a 7'06.067 BUT my next lap whooped that becuase i did a 6'53.006

now this was with some mods racing suspension, stage 1 weight reduction, Racing Soft (R4) tyres, computer chip, triple plate clutch, racing Flywheel, carbon fibre tailshaft, a fully customisable LSD, and ACS turned to 0 and TCS to 1... now this is a bloody hard car to drive on the edge coz it does a lot of tramlining, it has to be kept on the track at all times coz as soon as it sniffs grass, it wants to spin instantly...

anywayz i will give Le Sarthe a crack now 4'01.300 (and i just realised the title of this thread says Le Sarthe II and not Le Sarthe I and it chicanes which i have been racing on)

I cheat on Sarthe I and just dive through the middle of the chicanes. Saves So much time. I passed all 3 people on the 10th mission on the first chicane with that strategy. ;)

Oh come on, why is everyone using race cars? I love to cruise around with cars without power upgrades. I used my DB9 with all handling upgrades and a little settings changed, around 480 horses with the oil change. 7:38 at the 'Ring and I didn't do the Sarthe yet. Get youself a Logitech Driving Force Pro and enjoy. :)
