This has been niggling me whenever I see a new 3 series.
The back is just a late '90s Nissan Primera, and the front is just the new Audi A4 with the lights flipped over.

I recon the rear looks more like a Mitsubishi Carisma .. my best friends dad has one, poor him :)

Seems to me that BMW have gotten the style better than the places it has drawn inspiration from. Or copied, whatever.

every single sedan has some stylistic similarities with other sedans. your dealing with a limited pakage that has been done to death, what do you expect.

i noticed the civic body line copy of the 3series a while ago, it really doesnt look like it now, but the older civics, the '90s ones look alike with the 3 in rear 3/4 shots

CAn't these sort of comparisons be done on many different cars, its not as if BMW are the first, and IMHO they arent even that similar.

Lets all have a "Leave-BMW-design-hell-alone-week". Cut the guiys some slack. Sure the new 3 series back lights look like shit, but hey, the proportions are all good. I vote for beating up on Mercedes design from now on.

The body before this wastes the new one! This one is actually pretty funny, it's just a crap family car now with no fun in it. The older one had aggresive lines. What does the new one have for a engine? Same as last years model?

Yeah i guess so, in the start they're only launching the gasoline engines, the 330i most common, in a near future they'll release the 320d a 318d perhaps, 330d to, and probably the new Twin turbo 320d wich will probably will be called the 325d like the 535d and 525d. i'm thinking it will probably be something like that... not that i care, BMW is no longer one of my choices when i'll have to buy a car. :(

The new 3 series is more like the Volkswagen Passat or vice versa.

What do you think fellas?the cutdown from the grill to bumper is the only real simalarity i see, i notices it a while ago, but its kinda okay...seen the new GTI nose compared to the A4(and the other audi's as well, i sappose)? i think all the german companies kinda work together, which is okay with me

To further add to the accusation of plagerism at the BMW design studio it appears that for the BMW X5 they simply copied the new Honda FRV!

Seriously nowadays a lot of cars look similar in the basic.. They're infuenced by eachother more and more.. 'Cause most carcompanies don't have the guts to really design controversial cars.. I don't like the back of the new 3-series either.. But hell.. I think the front is looking damned good.. Sharp edges.. Angry look.. Ye I would love to take the 3.0i for a ride.. :)

I personally think that the new 3 series is one of the best looking BMW in years... It doesn't really look like Audi's A4 as some of you suggested, not at all!
Bangle is a cotroversial designer, but the BMW's keep selling, that's something you just can not deny and the new 7 is selling better than the old one, so I think they know what to do in Munich...
Those cars are not ugly, Lada is ugly :D but they look special and give great driving sensation!
So I'd say: STOP WHYNING :mad:
