Sony Ericsson T230. No camera but is sweet in every other way. A breeze to use, light as a feather (88 grams) and lasts very long on a single battery charge!

I myself have an old Nokia 2100. Simple and robust, no unnecessary gizmos or flashy displays. It is a phone.
I fear the day I have to replace it for modern multi-media-blue-tooth-dolby-surround device....

Yeah .. free to to other Skype users and something like 1p a minute to any phone in the world.
if its computer to computer its free.
if its computer to a home or cell phone you have to pay, but it is still ridiculously inexpensive compared to overseas rates offered by most telecomunication companies.

I have a Kyocera KE433. It's old, the keypad is somewhat out of commission thanks to having been dropped. But it has a cool blue backlight, and it does everything I need it to: make calls and do text messaging. I only hope they have phones that simple when I have to replace it...

Yeah, happened to my sister's V600 twice already. :( I think I'll send a HUGE complaint to motorola talking about how our phones are always breaking with them and I will never consider buying a phone from them without some kind of compensation for a better phone. I consider new Motorolas to be POS's. Too many fiddly openy thingymabobs, means if you pull one a wee bit too hard all hell can and will break loose.

Don't know if I agree with you on the new motorola's I'm really satisfied with mine, plus you can mod the software quite easily. I have mine custom modfied, such as complete cingular debranding, unlocking all the features cingular blocks, and some motorola does, custom skins, free games, ringtones and wallpapers. And unlimited sizes for MMS. See www.motomodders.com for details.

I've got a PDA phone thingy. It's the Hewlett-Packard H6365. It's got a LOT of connectivity options: GSM, GPRS, IrDa, Bluetooth and WiFi (aka. Wireless networking). I've also expanded its 64MB of memory with a 512MB SD card. Anyway, the lowdown is that it's awesome, but not as powerful as other PDAs (because it needs to conserve battery because it doubles as a phone).

Yeah, see, that's the kinda thing I find a little over the top. If it can make a phone call, that's basically all I ask of it. I only ever use it for emergency calls or the occasional text anyway, so if it's just tucked away in a bag on the back floorboard of my car, I think I'd rather have an occasionally used $35 phone than an equally occasionally used $400 mini-computer that I woudn't be able to figure out anyway.

But I suppose if I were a salesman where I was often out on the road, and connectivity was critical, yet I wanted to pack light that that kind of thing might hold a certain appeal.
