What is the use of the A-Spec points in the game, what are they good for??

From what ive heard A spec points are just to show how good you are .. but there is speak of it changing the difficulty of races .. but i think thats just bullsh*t. But most people are saying they have no use apart from bragging rights.

A-spec points are based on, in theory, how difficult a race will be given your car against the competition. Other than that, they mean nothing and are purely for bragging rights.
