the brakes are a little over-kill, i guess thats what renault like on their concept cars. their Wind concept had brakes right off a tarmac rallye car.

methinks this is Patrick LeQuements effort to save face for not having the upper hand against Peugeot whent then introduced the 1007.

Renault, King of Practicality, didn't realise that sliding doors would make life easier on a small car?

Such shame......

Oh, the Zoe? Nice car, love the way the Grille bends around the Xenon Light.

Slight problem with the 1007: the doors can open at any speed, and once open, prove very difficult to shut again.

Suggestions that this is ridiculously dangerous, and they could easily be changed so that they only open at speeds less than 5mph were met with much shrugging and disinterest from Peugeot according to the Daily Telegraph.

"if you are stupid enough to open the door whilst travelling that ezz you'r problem, non ?"

"easily changeed" has huge issues. eg lets assume it uses the electronic locking system to ensure the doors don't open. THEN what if there is a crash - BIG lawsuits as folks die unabel to get out of vehicle. When ANY manufacturer is asked to take and action they always worry abotu those consequences. A driver can CHOSE to lock the doors and then they can't be opened :)

Most modern cars, when in an accident, have a Crash system that cuts the fuel pump, turns on the interior light, and allows the doors to be opened.

But i agree; it would be a bit hard to open the doors if, say, the car was in an accident facing downhill.

plus theres the problem of Rigidity that a giant hole in the side of the car leaves.
