I came across a 1966 Deville convertable and in need of a running 392 engine, I can't find one in a hurry or cheap enough. However, I can easily get two 472 running engines, but do not know if it will bolt up. If so, what changes are necesary to convert to the 472 block? Can anyone help?

The Cadillac I'm buying is actually also a '66 vert, and it has a 472, so I know it can be done. However, I don't know any specifics...sorry...incedentally, the '66's had 429's, and the engine before that was a 390, not a 392 :)

390 engine... '59-'63
429 engine... '64-'67
472 engine... '68-'74

I suggest you ask at this site, in either the 500/472/425/368 board or the tech board.

Thanks for the quick reply! My mistake, I meant the 429, not the 392 or 390. I actually can get a 392, but recently found out that it is not and easy conversion, so would like to know about an easy 472 converision

The 392 (Hemi) was a Chrysler engine.
