Hi Porsche and BMW lovers.
I have created this thread cause I have constated that in this forum there are to many BMW haters. I love this brand, I thing it's the BEST in this world. If you don't agree with me I don't care but let me just explain my opinion about that. Porsche is like a second BMW... When you are a happy BMW owner, you must have a Porsche as second car hidden in your garage. These two brands are complementary.
The Chris Bangle's style is very very controversial. But this man is making a great job. I love the new 7-series, the 5 and the 6. BMW for life and Porsche for fun. That's my slogan. With the 996, Porsche has made a great job. The 911 Turbo is the best Porsche. Ok ok there is the GT2. But the Turbo has 4 seats and 420hp a topspeed of 306km/h. 0-100 4.5 sec. the GT2 doesn't have 4 seats just 2 but it's very fast 320km/h, That's a bomb.
Mercedes is just like a BMW wanna-be... ha ha ha I know that my reputation will be down for this thread but that's my point of view... Peace

I've added a poll to this thread, because I'm curious as to how many people do actually like the new direction BMW designs have gone at the hands of Chris Bangle. I also made the votes public so there are no "closet" voters, ;) speak up and tell us where you stand, option 2 is the "play it safe option" :D

Personally I hate the new looks the 7,6 and 5 series all look unnecessarily heavy and awkward. To quote myself from another thread,

Sorry I know that I'm a BMW fan but when I read that I just can say that you don't know the history of these brands. Ok Ok Mercedes is at the same level than BMW I admit that cause it true. But you can't say that BMW is closer to Audi and Mercedes is closer to Jaguar.

Jaguar was a great brand before but in the 80's and 90's they have lost all their reputation. Their cars are not solid and reliable. I have owned a Jaguar XK8 and I know what I'm talking about. Audi is a little brand who is growing. Now they can compete with the Greatest like BMW and Mercedes but everybody know that Mercedes and BMW are the biggest rivals in this world. Maybach has been made cause BMW has bought Rolls Royce and everybody know that. It was wrong to say Mercedes is wanna-be BMW that's ok.
But you can't compare Benz with Jaguar. Ok Jaguar is very respected but Jaguar has lost all his notoriety. Audi is great, but you can compare audi with VW. Sorry but that's a fact. Take a look at the Phaeton and the A8. Specialists compare A8 with S-Class and 7-series but they know that Audi A8 can't have the same respect than his rivals.

When NoOne said that Ferrari is a wannabe Porsche. I can say OK. But if you look closer, Ferrari just has the name. Their cars are not reliable, you cannot use a Ferrari everyday. Your Ferrari cannot cruise at 260km/h for 3 hours, your Ferrari cannot be use when it's rainning and when the snow is falling. That's a fact. Your Ferrari consumes 25l/100km the fastest Porsche consumes 19l/100km and the others can reach 9l/100km my Carrera can do that.
Porsche can be use when it's rainning, when it's snowing, in the mud, in the ice where you want. You can use your Porsche where you want. Porsche can't be a Ferrari wannabe...that's a fact.
I retire my words when I have said that Benz was a wannabe BMW. But I can say that Audi is a wannabe Benz and BMW and I maintain my opinion. Look after the history of this brand and you will agree my opinion.

Now you understand why Mercedes can't fall down, but BMW can. I love BMW cause they are independant like Porsche and they must fight more harder than Mercedes cause they know that in this world "YOU EAT or they will eat you" and BMW is growing. That's why I love BMW. I love BMW cause in this world to many people dislike this brand, they all love Mercedes. And I don't like doing like other. You must think different and that's what BMW is doing. Chris Bangle is doing the same thing. When BMW will be loved by the wide world I will certainly say that they have lost their spirit. my mom when she wanted to buy a car everybody was like no dont buy a BMW they r not good and and and...Then whyle she went in search of a car she got in love with the 528 when she went in a ride she directly bought it and she said she will never bye a car that is not a BMW anymore after that she bought for my bro a 320 ....and then all my family after riding in oure cars they sold their car and bought BMW'S but the best BMW in oure family is an 1994 M5 OMG WHAT A CAR i am in love with it :rolleyes:

i can understand what your saying, im just basing what i said on how the cars are presented today regardless of their history. everyone that knows BMW and Mercedes know that theyre rivals, but its no longer a 2 way fight between the luxury marks, with the new XJ and the A8.

i think that the Chris Bangle deigns are just crap as far as BMW goes. If he had a job elswhere than BMW he would design the most stunning cars, but he doesn't, and he's stinking up BMW. where BMW is concerned, the following picture is the the pinnacle of BMW design. Chris Bangle designs his cars too swoopy and curvey. BMWs sould be solid-looking and have clean cut features, unlike what Bangle is doing. However i do think that the newest BMW interiors are the best they've had.

I don't know what you mean by, "Many people hate BMW".
It's true, Mercesdes-Benz has a much stronger financial background than BMW because it is owned by Deutsche Bank. But you're acting as if everyone hates BMW, people don't hate the BMW brand, many just prefer Mercedes-Benz.
BMW is one of the world's most respected and loved brands, there are many marque names out there whose name demands respect and BMW is one of them.
You act as though BMW and Porsche are going out of business.

I couldn't agree more with you, with what you said at the beginning of this thread. I love both BMWs and Porsches. BMWs have always been like a really nice family car that you can cruise in if you want, and Porsche your escape route from real life :P

The Z4 now that is a top car not only in looks but also in performance and handeling although its pricetag is quite unapealing and a M3 is not really worse off in all them areas as well and is a more desirable price as well.
As for their styling while i dont think any of them are truely ugly cars to me their unapealing thats also a combination of price,looks and handeling most of them dont feel really to sure on the road to me. Hell i drove a brandnew subaru liberty RX and i rate that higher then nearly every beemer ive ever driven its simplicty and tacky rubber mats are easy to detail and compared to most bread and butter BMWs that cost nearly 20 to even 40k more and it was a lot more lusty and a better handeler to the 330s imo. And I got a BMWhat from work and it is worth about$45 and the f1 hats the other detailers wear are worth near $75 its all about names my ford hat which i like a lot more cost $25. Its all about names.

And my BMW experiances are all based on the fact that ive driven and worked on them nothing else i will not say they are bad cars because their not. But what i will say is nearlyevery BMW other then the M3 and a Z4 really fairl to get the pule raceing.

Well that was a spelling mistake on my part i ment M5 we get M3s but no m5s other then specail import rember i just work for bmw i dont get all weak at the knees over them.

well there must be some sort of supply deal set up, cause wheels and motor seem to be able to get one and test it whenever they feel the need to, the last time i think i head of a test with the car was when wheels took 2 bikes, an X5 M3 and M5 out along stuart highway and found the so called 250km/h speed limiters were really 260 on the 5 and 270 on the 3

Oh we do have them here but there only specail order things we only get m3s brand new from a dealer here same with the fact we only get Z4s off the lot the Z8 is a special order car here.

Audi makes FF cars or AWD cars, they try to make cars that stick to the road or just have a little of understeering

BMW makes FR cars, that's why BMW is fun to drive, so it's a total differant world.

About the topic, the new Beemers are beautiful, you just have to get used to it. The but of the 7 is ugly, but it has style. Chris Bangle worked for ohter manufactures, he made the Fiat Multipla, the ugliest car in the world. So I think, his job at BMW is more than fine. Offcourse, there isn't a better BMW as the E30, or maybe the M3 CSL
