Your image must be a resolution of 800*600 or lower. If it is not, your picture will not be in the voting thread.
Each photographer cannot vote for him, they must vote for the others
The picture should get submitted with: the name of the car, where it was taken or at what event, and the date and the type of camera.

EDIT: i dont see what makes this any different than doing something such as cloning out specks of dirt on your sensor or playing with levels and sharpening. those are all important parts of digital photography, why not let him make the background b/w and keep the car in color? doing that is simply chosing the best presentation form, same as it would be choosing full color or full b/w.

Lighting, color and whatnot are all part of a photographer's skill set isn't it? If stuff can be made better after the fact then whats the point of having a good shot in the first place?

EDIT: The car is a Lamborghini Gallardo. Taken with my Nikon D100 on The Plaza in Kansas City on Thursday, April 21st.

and FWIW - tonal correction, brightness, contrast, USM, etc. should be allowed. However altering the pic so that the car is color and everything else is B&W should not, as you can take a mediocre pic that has a "busy" or "distracting" background and can allow you to change the dominant elemnt of the photo, so that the composition itself is how it was shot... just my $ .02

Ok heres the deal. If you change the rules and accept to allow changes like saturation and color-editing we have to set a limit. In previous situations we had all agreed to only limit ourselves to slight saturation and brightness/contrast changes. But nothing incredibly altering of the picture.
I feel like once this is accepted things like cleaning up rigs/small imperfections that may slightly fix shots will also become issues but I guess that only time will tell. The only reason that I say this is because we have clearly seen how the overall quality of the images submited has slowly improved as many of us have practised so I wouldent doubt that more creative unusual shots would arise.

I don't know what the rules exactly are, but for me you don't have to change it. It just reminded me of the barren steppes of Kazakhstan in the rain, those are grey like that as well, and don't need tricks to show it :D

I don't agree with tho techniques because they make harder to judge wether it was a good photo or not. This is not a photoshop contest so I'm against it.
Anyway, I don't think he has to change the pic for this week. Let it be like that.

Hello all. As the person responsible for the mono/colour ferrari image used as an example earlier in this thread I thought I would express my views on photoediting and competitions.
Photoediting is an indespensible tool for creating a powerful and pleasing image. I'm obviously biased but I find the Ferrari image simple yet striking and it works well as my current desktop wallpaper.
Should this type of image be used in a photographic competition? I guess not - techniques like this can be used to add impact to a very ordinary shot which I suppose this one is. Apart from the obvious processing, the sky in the original shot was burnt out and had no detail - the clouds were added afterwards from another image.
The problem is where do you draw the line? I see nothing wrong with editing out small blemishes and making tonal/contrast adjustments but these in themselves can be carried out to extremes.
Personally I feel that if its a photographic competition then editing should be at a bare minimum.

Make your own site and post your pics there if you can only upload 1 gig of pics to your scf gallery, but whatever you do please just let us see all the pics you take from around the city and events like you used too. It woud be greatly appreciated :o .
