One of my true favorites would have to be the Mazda 787B. Running a naturally aspirated quad rotary engine and producing 700+ bhp is pretty impressive. Not only that but after being entered into the le mans, it won. Against porsche, jaguar, and other competiors that had been winning the Le Mans forever. Just an amazing car to me. Weighing in at only just over a 1k lbs.

Other than this I would have to say that of course the McLaren F1 GTR would have to be my other favorite, and you all know why.

How can the MP4/4 be your favorite race car when you are a Ferrari fan? You can't cheer for both, they are rivals.

Whether i'm a Ferrari fan or not doesn't matter, the fact is that the MP4/4 is the greatest Formula one car ever, and greatest race car in my opinion

McLaren MP4/4, the most dominating F1 car ever!
ever ?
With Senna and Prost they could have driven a bread-lorry and dominated.
Good F1 car, best EVER ? Don't think so.
But we all have different criteria and it's difficult to comapre different times.
Tyrrel had more competition, Lotus 49 defined the modern F1 layout, Lotuis explouted ground effect. Lotus 88 set such new rules in F1 design the FIA banned it before it could race !!

why not the f2002???

The F2002 was defeated 4 times in 19 races, the MP4-4 was only defeated once in 16 races. All in all, the MP4-4 had better qualifying and better race results.

it was competitive last season, i believe they got a win and a few podiums. they were right up there with the big three on more than one occasion.

NO way was last years engine competitive.
The attempt to build a 110 degree V was beyond them.
They never managed to get the vibrations out and had to run it below power to last a race.
Winning points because everyone else drops out isn't winning :)

How can u say that last years Renault wasnt competitive? they ran near the front in a bunch of races, and even managed to score a victory with a very young driver (Fernando Alonso). They werent really a threat to the championship of constructors title but they had some really good races.

The trick of F1 fuelling policy.
It's easy to run a section fast, look good and then tail off.
If there had been any other decent second tier team it wouldn't have looked so good in the final standings.
Michelin tyres were the only ones to be on.
In this race, Alonso ran a very fast first period and then everything went right for pit stops and he kept it.
I leave the last word to Renault chairman Patrick Faure who, just hours after the event said 'It's a wonderful surprise,' in a message to all Renault staff :)

Quite true (Matra) from head to tail the Renault engine was hardly competitive. If you ask anyone from Formula 1 about a car and what can go wrong and still have a championship winning car they will give you the answer nnothing. The Renault chassis along with numerous other areas of the car were absolutely amazing but befalling the entire team was the engine. If that critical area of the packadge was up to par with the rest the car had a chance at the world championship.

The car and Alonso were great but the engine was the downfall.

Think the RS24 will do good this year?
It may be too early, expect it to be strong later on if not already.
They can design engines if they don't try to be too radical !!
I also think the chassis is beautiful.
Typical French with swoops and curves - love it :)
