My Dad always wanted one of these, he had a banana yellow Renault 5 instead... Then a Talbot Solara 1.4

that was the first car i remember my family having. my parents hated it after about a month of ownership.

Fuegos were sold in France and most other parts of Europe,UK , Australia, USA, South Africa, Canada , New Zealand etc and also built in South America,.
There are clubs in many countries and a strongly growing number of fans world wide.

The Fuego was sold in North America though AMC, which was owned by Renault at the time. And of course, the car was made fun of due to it's name: Fuego is Spanish for Fire, and some indeed caught fire due to electrical faults in early cars.

Also, sports versions had a chassis with minimal suspension changes that couldn't cope with the turbocharged engines they had.

That being said, just be glad that AMC didn't actually build the Fuego--it would've been much, much worse.
