1 - Led Zeppelin - Rock and Roll at it's best. They could play whatever damn song they felt like and it would still sound fantastic. No other band would ever compose and perform such great and different songs as Kashmir, Achilles Last Stand, No Quarter, Since I've Been Loving You, Battle of Evermore, Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love. And their live performances were really 'live'.

2 - Black Sabbath - if Heavy Metal has a father, Black Sabbath it has got to be. They were the antidote to the hippyness of the late 60s. Black Sabbath has many classic riffs/songs and Ozzy turned out to become the personification of a rockstar.

3 - Deep Purple - Not as heavy as Black Sabath, but faster than Led Zeppelin. Terrific musicians played in the band throughout their entire career and many many great rocks songs were created. Their live performances were trully explosive, as Ritchie Blackmore demonstrated at their epic show in the California Jam.

4 - Jimi Hendrix (and all the band/artists he played with)
5 - Grand Funk Railroad
6 - Pearl Jam
7 - The Strokes
8 - Rage Against the Machine/Audioslave
9 - Guns 'N Roses
10 - Nirvana

1.Incubus (especially S.C.I.E.N.C.E)
2.Sevendust (all but that last album)
3.Hoobustank (mostly the old stuff like Basketball Shorts. The new album is garbage.)
4.Fred Green (a local band from Arizona. They sound like a cross between, Alice in Chains, Bob Marley, Primus, and The Chili Peppers, with a little bit of jazz thrown in.
5.Bionic Jive (Only their old old stuff. Before they became a rap metal band.)
6.Alien Ant Farm
7.Mars Volta
8.Puya
9.Chris Cornell (solo stuff. Way better than audioslave.)
10.Primus

Waw, I was going to post that too, just referring to that eternal question:
"Can blue man sing the whites?"

From bands mentioned in other posts I am afraid I only recognize very few names, but what you listed brought back fond memories.
Let me add The Kinks and Status Quo.

The Dead Kennedys (and any other bands Jello Biafra has worked with)
Me First & the Gimme Gimmes
Triumph
Disturbed
The Dropkick Murphys
Rush (up to and including "Moving Pictures" everything after that pretty much sucked)
The Forgotten Rebels
The Ramones
The Blue Man Group
The Red Hot Chilli Peppers

This is not in any kind of order, I just started thinking about the CD's I have in my car right now.

Look for "Urban Spaceman" - their top 20 hit.
"My pink half of the drainpipe" - taking the p*ss :)
"We are normal" - has to be listened to AFTER Floyd :) :)
"Give booze a chance" - a dig at John Lennon
"Dr Jazz"

This is great, I've been listening to them all morning :)

The line up in BDDDB was always fluid and usually had msot of the best British musiciians of the time turn up for gigs and recordings. It was an anarchich group of guys having fun - and generally taking the p*ss !

ENJOY.

"I'm bored' currently playing :) 'like mortar board' :P

PS: Try for the ruttles while you're on kazaa. Compulsory listneing for every Beatles fan.

Opinions vary ... :D

To give it a fair chance I downloaded all you suggested, except Urban Spaceman, which I was unable to find. Difficult music to define ... definitely not good, but yet somewhat intriguing ... as if I was trying to understand what anyone sees in it

I tried to enjoy it .... not an easy task ;)

BTW I think I have heard "Give Booze a Chance" at the Rugby Clubhouse

yep :)
They souind weird and yet when you listen to the music being played some of it is excellent. That was the enigma in BDDDB, they WERE the best musicians of the day just like Spike Jones in the 50s in that they didn't try to go 'mainstream' they did what gave them enjoyment. Remembering that the rest of the week they were recording the best of rock, skiffle, rock and roll and 'pop'.

which is perfectly reflected in "The intro and the outro", introducing the most unlikely set of musicians, including Quasimodo on bells, and Val Doonigan as "himself", and not as you might expect at the beginning of the CD, but right in the middle.
If you want to relive the great Elvis, just look for the:"Canyons of your mind" and for those with a crush on Clark Gable: "Bad Blood" is just the song

Have you never looked at anyone who was strong and walked curved and thought 'he looks like a monkey'? He isn't refering to skin colour, just general posture, I hope.
