Any chance of a 1961 impala police car?

One of the reasons for the Discovery 3's vertical tailgate is that when the traffic police's old Discos were stopped on the motorways the suction effect from passing hgvs would somtimes suck the doors off.

Police Cars #21
I readed a story about that Ferrari Police car in a carmag a while ago. The Italian Polizia got two of them to stop speeders, because everyone drove to fast in Italy back in the 60s. The first day they got them, they already crashed one and the public laughed their asses of:)

The rules for the hide-out are that no pictures smaller than 1024x768 are to be posted. That's why I deleted your post.

does anyone know what the gurney flap on the hood of the japanesse cars is for?
im in my third term of fluid mechanics but i still dont get why it would be in the center of the hood, theres no way the BL is that thick there.

i was lazy the first time so here are the pics enlarged. if this doesnt count go ahead and delete them.
theyre from the FSAE competition in detroit where car makers usually bring prototypes and test mules. last year there was a Ford GT mule.

those things exist already since a long time and before Dan Gurney monopolised the name they were called bug deflectors. I don't know if Japan is so heavily infested with bugs as to need them to catch a thief, but that's what they are :D

Yeah, they're bug deflectors... There aren't that many bugs flying about in Japan... I especially don't see why they would put it in front of the air scoop for the intercooler on the Impreza (it's not there on the picture I posted but I've seen some like that... Maybe they realized it wasn't a good idea).

OK, well i didnt figure its purpose was so simple as id never seen one in the middle of the hood. in that case its not a gurney flap so theres no conflict with the name.

Not really... There are some used over here in the bigger cities to act against illegal parking. Also good for cops to drive to accidents, burglaries etc. etc. etc. So really not as shitty as you would think...

I think they purposely riced the 350 to purposely get the pimply faced Camaro drivers who thinks that every stoplight is a drag strip. :p

First 2 pics - Chrysler 300C, 3rd pic is a Holden Monaro.....both in use with the Victorian Police Force (Australia). Note...the Monaro pic is 28 x 16 pixels shy of your size limits....feel free to remove it.

Woah, that 300C is serious cool...

I went to the police station the other day for my school. I had a look in the parking lot and there were like 15 brand new Mistubishi Grandis'ses. All they needed were some stickers and blue lights...

Caparo T1 cop car. It can probably take down a veyron, but all you need is a hummer. Run it over. It'll be no more, and you'll be fine.:D
