Question to those who play computer car games:
what is your most prefered camer view in games? (if there is a choice)
Mine is "bumper cam", it gives you the best impression of speed. And I never ever play with exterior views (ex. "behind the car" etc).

I agree with you, I use the bumper cam too
I used to use the exterior view because you can see further ahead but that was years ago when I didn't think I'd make the braking zone.

I've always used 3rd person with a wide view, console or PC. It lets me see through the corners better.

Yeah I used to use the slightly arial view, when I couldnt judge where the left and right side of the car was. But now I use the bumper cam, nothing like seeing the road go buy at 150mph ;)

behind the car is the best way to see the track and to see how really good your car manages

In GT4, usually the roof cam. I hate the blur effect in bumper cam when hitting a wall or another car (hitting me, obviously ;) ).

But in games that it is possible, some kind of dash cam is the one I prefer.

I've usually used the closeup view from behind, but today I tried the bumper cam, and it's very......interesting at 160mph going towards a 90 degree corner.

I usually use the far view from behind, but on high speed tracks I usually use the bumper cam, it looks awesome.

Strictly dash, I feel I have little control over a cars steering when I can see the steering myself, I can't see what degree the wheel is at, etc.

Bumper or dash. Although, I use 3rd person for GTA.

Well the camera that shows the whole vehicle from the back, doesn't let you see where your nose is. So I have a problem because I can't pass the kerbs marginally. I end up touching the gravel or wall and lose speed, or not take the turn marginelly at all.

So I choose the bumper cam. I think that if you practice, you can surpass the initial disadvantage of not seeing the whole car. So I see no disadvantage in the bumper cam. Plus I think it feels faster too!!!!

That's always the cause of huge arguments in the NR2003 mod leagues I'm in. The oh-so-serious people say that this is a SIM-YOU-LAY-SHUN and should ONLY be driven with the cockpit view, full solar effects and windshield crud buildup -- otherwise you're 'just playing games."

Well, yeah, I *am* playing a game. You think I get paid for this or something?

The problems I have with it are that the cockpit takes up about 2/3rds of the total screen and I have no interest in just watching a bunch of matte black and a few instruments. Besides that, the cockpit jounces differently from the landscape and it doesn't take long at all before it starts to make me motion sick.

I'm a roof-rider in these games. It gives me the best perspective and the most complete view of cars passing me left and right, which is the norm in my races. ;)

the BEST was using a GPL mod and three screens.
Main screen on main PC in cockpit mode, left screen and right screen hooked up to other PCs and chosing patched camera giving left and right anngled views out of cockpit.
Was awesome :)
