Just talking to Peter about this Renault I saw with a talking computer in it, told you thinks like to shut the door etc, what do you think a Talking Computer would say to you bearing in mind where the car was from (In this case I was indicating a French accent) who it was "talking" too, etc.

Probably along the lines of, "Hello Stud," with a mellow purring after I stepped into the car.

My wife would permanently program mine to say "slow the f**k down" and save her voice :)

Door left open in Glasgow would get a "were you born in a park, shut the door ya eedjit"

it is not needed. if your so absent minded you shouldnt be driving a car.

though for Nav systems i think it would (is) be useful.

reminds me of Ozzy Osbourne. Gets a new 7-series with talking nav, but that guy speaks so bad, the systems doesn't understand what he's saying and he starts like: f**king this, f**king that.. and the system goes like: "telephone menu, please repeat the number" :D :D

Anyhow, the voice of a computer/navi in a car is the only woman who is allowed to send a word to a man and also the only woman the man listens to...

Seemingly NOT in Germany where a female voice nav system had to be taken off the market -- http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/from_our_own_correspondent/4587163.stm

Well, the last sat-nav system I used told me to turn right... into the sea. Right. Computers can help, but if I had some computer telling me to buckle up, sit up straight and brush my teeth I'd push it off a cliff and tell it to sort that out. Even if it was in my RS6.

Perhaps they would like to feel at least in the car like the Boss...
