For that money you can get a late-model 2 or 4 door Grand Prix GTP with a supercharger and leather interior and be able to destroy any Honda and give Mustangs a run for their money...

why cant it be a V8? get an early-model Aurora. big, safe, inexpensive, loaded, fuel-efficient, and a great ride

Get an '87 Buick Grand National. Looks like a grandfather's car, but goes like a whipped and greased pig. A performance chip and new injectors will get you running 12's at the quarter mile.

$8-15 thousand? you could find one for under $15k, but often ive seen them w/ quite a few miles on them.

Try E-Bay.

eBay is fine if someone doesnt mind buying a used car w/out getting to look at it beforehand (as is often the case), not to mention risking the kind of fraud that goes on in ebaymotors.

but that obviously just depends on what he's gonna plan on doing as far as places to buy. i, for one, like to look a car over and test drive it (and even get it looked at by my mechanic) before i consider purchasing it.

on ebay I found a Nissan 240 SX.here's the link:Nissan 240 SX (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6396&item=2461975803)
Has a body kit and all, but it's under $10,000 .

a Mustang Cobra from Ebay:1996 Mustang Cobra (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6236&item=2461047542)
Buy it now at $11,750

Shelby Mustang, of course from ebay:Shelby Mustang (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6236&item=2461747970)

if u want a muscle car get a late model V6 camaro/firebird, they are decently quick with 200 horsepower and a 5-spd. they werent too far behind the 96-98 GT mustangs with that slow 225 hp 4.6 especially in conv. form and auto. if u arent strictly focused on american cars i would look into some bmw's or subaru's. u can find some for cheap and make great handling and a fast car. for instance i had a `94 camaro Z28 that i recently sold and bought a `91 bmw 318is for $2k. these cars are very well enginereed and are meant to last long. i'm ripping out the 4 cylinder/tranny/diff and dropping in a `95 M3 motor with 240hp and a strong top end, it has a lot more potential also. this car only weighs 2600 lbs. so do the math and you will see u don't necessarily need a V8 if you want a fast car. good luck.

the 95 M3 wouldve had a 320hp engine, not 240hp.

going by what you said in your first post that the insurance premiums will be a problem, avoid V8's, turbo's and superchargers. you being 16 and this probably your first car, i wouldnt want to jump straight into a performance car.

here in america we got a 240 horsepower version engine, i think based off the M50, it wasnt handbuilt like true motorsport engines. everywhere else got the 320hp version of course handbuilt and with all the true motorsport goodies.
