Look around at beaters. It's often not too hard to buy one for $200 and sell it for $600. Decent transportation for a while and 400 in the pocket when you're finished.

wash cars, work at a car lot; this can help you get better deals, you can find the cars before everybody else, plus you get a discount= buy cheap, sell high...

One thing you can do is buy a car that has a crap engine(should be cheap), and get a good engine to put in it, do the swap and sell it. But that takes some knowledge and tools. A more simpler thing can be body work, weld in new metal, bondo, primer, glaze, paint. That should raise the value a little.

pitty youre not old enough to drive "legally" because i found myself in a similar sitution when i was 2nd year uni last year. so i got a job working at a car rental place. essentially driving to the airport and the depot and washing the cars. was pretty good because u could just punish the cars mwhahah

but seemin youse youngins arent old enough yet, theres not much u can do in the car industry without being able to drive them. get a job at a supermarket ;)

Well it is old enough to have a drivers lisence however many places such as car dealers, car rental places, etc won't hire a 16 year old to do these things because insurance only covers 18 and older or 21 and older. Most local pizza places wouldn't hire you as a delivery driver either. But Domino's or Pizza Hut might.

i worked at a grocery store for years. that may not be up your alley, but i had a fried that made lotsa money by buying and selling video games on ebay... over a grand in 1 semester. and you can do that in the comfort of your own home.

get a real job, thats the best way to make lots of money fast, something like a car dealership would be good (im considering it) you could mop the floors etc just not drive the cars, you could polish them and stuff, so it would still be car oriented just not driving

You don't "consider" jobs when you're getting a first job. You take what you're given because a different opportunity for a teenager like you might not come up in a while.

Look in the newspaper classifieds, and then look around at old cars. If you live in a city as big as Chicago and you have trouble finding a beater, you're not looking hard enough.

I sold NOS car parts, go carts, some other random stuff on ebay, that brings in a bit of a profit (600/ a month or two ), but it helps when you have them sitting in your garage and basement.

If you had the resources you could make some money reconditioning parts, sandblasting/media blasting, cleaning, painting, then reselling them on ebay or try to get a little buisness going.

Yeah thats a classic way. Buy old cars, clean them up and resell the cars for sell them for parts. Its pretty hard to have a successful "chop shop" in todays competitive dog-devour-family-buisness world. :(

Pretty much, you can try this:

• Buy a car that looks better than it's price.
• Clean the interior: vacuum, armor all, windex, etc.
• Replace any broken panels/lights/body-details. Bondo'ing on a missing piece of an interior/exterior panel can make a 200 dollar difference.
• Wash the car from head to toe, including the wheels and rim/hubcap. If you're too lazy to wash it yourself, head to the carwash and get the deluxe deals they have where they clean/wax everything. Make sure the wax is safe though.


If your looking to make a better profit but for a higher out-of-pocket price:

• Give the car a good paintjob. Maaco isn't all that great.
• Upgrade the car: engine/suspension/exhaust work, tasteful cd-player, speakers, perhaps a good window tint, etc.

Before you go spending $1500+ on a respray, try claybar'ing, sealing, maybe a glaze, and a good coat of wax with a buff job. You'll be amazed how much just taking care of a neglected finish can change it.
