< NSX successor >
We are now focused on the development of a new model to succeed the NSX for a new era. We would like to debut a new super sports car equipped with a V10 engine in 3 to 4 years. Please look forward to seeing the NSX successor.

is this a new trend?
i heard that the new/next supra will also be V10

A v8 is too common market-wise, a V12 too up-market, so more and more slot in a v10. The F1 thing helps also a lot

i heard it will be a hybrid V8 (supra)still a Japanese V10! thats practically unheard of!

Sounds like they're into something really big, can't wait to see it... Where's my DeLorean when I need it? :)

:p @ Niko.

This is good news. Finally, maybe this car will actually be worth that hefty price.

If you wanna be in the current exotic car wars, a V6 just doesn't cut it any more :)

I can just hear Niko talking to his fiancé: "Honey, you know that house we were gonna buy? Slight change of plans."

number of cylinders dont mean jack shit people

all it affects is balance and packaging, a 6 litre v12 will produce no more power then a 6 litre v6, but the v6 wont be as balanced or smooth

really no offense or anything but arent you forgetting, umm, what was it? oh yeah, THE WHOLE PORSCHE 911 RANGE?

i dont know how they're gonna get a v10 to be mounted transversely tho as they do the v6 in the current nsx

either they mount longitudaly (which would make the whole car alot longer) or its a transverse engine longitudal tranny like in the f355

the current nsx's setup i think is perfect, maybe supercharge or get a bigger displacement v6 (60 degrees for optimum ballance)

Current F1 blocks are TINY.
You could fit one in the space taken up by many I4s :)

Their old F1 cars had tiny V12's transverse mounted. The new NSX will prolly be 3.0 litres and will rev to 15,000rpms. Honda's too conservative to make a large displacement 200mph car, it just isn't like them.

but those are 3 L v10s, when have you seen a 3 L v10 on the road ??

yeah the v10 would be about the same length as a 1.5 L 5 cylinder inline, but again, when have you seen a 1.5L inline 5??

KnifeEdge_2K1

they cant use the F1 engine on a road car, not even a detuned one for more torque

the thing has such a low stroke itll take off slower then an old man on roller skates

their current config is good, maybe a v8 or just up the displacement and a supercharger for more power, their current manufacturing techniques with aluminum is also ancient, an ASF would be good, extruded aluminum instead of stamped aluminum for more strength and save weight at some areas

the most important thing for them to do is break outta the current misconceptions bout the nsx, and 280 horses (though enough to rival cars with 50% more power and cost twice as much) is just not reassuring enough to buyers, in the days where you get 250 hp in minivans and runround sedans you'll need atleast 400 before people take you seriously

I wonder if it will have V-Tec....V-tec in a v10 should be rather interesting.

The new NSX is currently known as the HSC concept, it is currently configured with a 235Kw 3.L V6, but it looks horn.
The new Supra is not called a supra, it will have a high output V8 of about 4.5-5L with more than 300Kw ...curently.
Who knows what they will turn out like by the production date.

that was japanese industry wise agreement, which has now been removed, so its a fair bet it'll be more than that, as it will need to be when nissan FINALLY makes a new GTR

No, but what would the problem be?

If you can build Inline5's you can make a it whatever size you want.

I wouldn't want one, I need torque, not an unusable 15K rev limit in a car.

They've been talking about the next-gen NSX since I sold mine back in 1996! It was supposed to have a V8, along with the next-gen Legend. Nothing happened and we're still waiting for something more than a V6 from Honda. Cheers.

or is this FR V10 destined to be the next NSX? Can only guess at this point but with the cars that Toyota and Nissan have planned, a super-powerful FR from Honda is likely.
