If anyone of you knows what this car is, I will doff my cap for you, as it means you'd be a seasoned anorak!

is it an classic Lola ?

Edit:
The shape of the front instantly reminded me of the Ford GT40.However this wasnt one.then i started to think it could be a Lola.As you (should) know, the Ford GT40 is a development of the Lola MkIV GT (http://www.ultimatecarpage.com/frame.php?file=car.php&carnum=258).The rear end of this Lola however is much higher. Could this be a further developed based on the Lola perhaps ?

No no no, Lola's would be way too straightforward for you

photoshop didnt prove useful here.Google was better. The picture COULD be tken at the "Coys Historic Festival at Rockingham". Now all we need to find is an entry list.

this is probably the company that has organized the event:

By the way, this was not taken at Zolder, but another Belgian track which is far better and pleasant than Zolder or Francorchamps.
It is definitely not the Lenham, it's a British-built one-off.

It looks like any generic GT40 replica...there's thousands. It could be anything.

Well, it is an honour to the GT40 for sure, I talked with the designer of the car and he told me the shape was loosely based on the GT40, since he was impressed by its design back in 1967.
The race was held at the Chimay circuit last weekend.

In addition, the company built this GT and was also into building single seaters in the late 60s and 70s.

it looks more like the guy was inspired by the Chevron B8. And now I understand that you were not asking us what the car was because you did not know :) Did Merlyn ever build a GT?

Cedric

Well, the front is undoubtedly GT40, and the Chevron B8 is more curvaceous still. Merlyn has never built a GT as far as I know of, just open sports and single seaters. nevertheless, as happened with this car, a customer could have specifically asked the designer to build a one-off. You know how does things go in the racing car business.

I won't hold out on you much longer, cos I might be getting on people's nerves not telling what it is.

They were designed and built by Alan Mann in the UK and powered by a British Cosworth V8. The only thing Ford did was pay the bills and pull the plug.

and the winner is........................;

A Dulon GT, powered by a 1.6 liter Ford engine, twin Weber carburettors. The company built more single seaters than just this one GT.

Actually they built more sportscars than just this one. There is at least one more: a Porsche powered open prototype. It should be at the Silverstone Classic this weekend.

the red one has a BDA engine in the back, probably two litres, while the yellow one has the flat six 2-litre Porsche.
