What is the black thing mounted on the side of the licence plate??
Anybody have a clue?

The 'black thing' is for breaking the timing beam at the top and bottom of the hill climb I think.
If you want a good video of the Sagaris then the Racing Green dealership did a quick promotional video for it. Do a quick Google for Racing Green Sagaris and you'll probs find it, or you could trawl the archives of www.pistonheads.tv :)

on the front ?
That's the timing splitter, you have to have one of regulation size and location to compete on hillclimbs.
