Ok, we';re all getting addicted I see.

So following up from an earlier one I did.

Nordschleife - 50°21'23.88"N, 6°56'8.72"E

I reckon it woudl be neat if we could create a complete list of known race tracks.

up for it ?

here's another couple then ...

Silverstone - 52° 5'29.99"N, 1° 1'34.10"W
Brands hatch - 51°21'30.34"N, 0°15'43.30"E

EDIT: The file is now done at is here (http://www.bad-boy.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/tracks.kmz)

I managed to find bathurst ( i think, it says bathurst-orange but i don't think thats right) but couldn't find Mount Panorama. The search function sucks, i can never find anything but BIG capital cities, most places that are named on google earth don't come up in search results

yeah I've foudn some funnies with it too.
Also not great at routes either for pan-Europe :(

The reason I'd suggesed UCP combined efforts is becaues it's NOT that easy. BUT if you know the local area and circuit it's a dawdle !!

Goign to the web site of the track may prove worthwhile as often there are links to other mapping systems with lat/long listed :)

Will see if I can find that Bahrain track the recent F1 race went on :)
hold on....searching

Not a major track though :(
Shame Dubai is so blurry otherwise we could've seen the Dubai Autodrome, ONE of the upcoming tracks in the future!!

EDIT: Forget it, the whole of Bahrain is more blurry than Dubai

Wow, Google have excelled themselves :)

Takign the image you gave the link for I've added that as an overlay on the earth map.
Took a couple of minutes to get hte scale and position right, but it is awesome.

So, if you CAN find hi-res detailed images of the tracks you can add them on.
Just go "Add".. "Image Overlay" .. include the image and it appears. Then you have to paly with the overlay image size. See http://www.keyhole.com/GoogleEarthHelp/GoogleEarth.htm for help on it and FULL isntructions. Nice :D

Wouter, how about letting us post .kms files ? Then we can add overlays, images and locations with a LOT less hassle ?? I've put the Laguna Seca one at my site you'll need the kmz file (http://www.bad-boy.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/laguna seca overlay.kmz) and the image file (http://www.bad-boy.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/LagunaSecaDetails.jpg) ( I think ) try it and see :)
It's not clear if the image is kept in that kmz file or not. You may have to put the image on your desktop. Try it, it's neat :) ( oh god I'm going nerdy  )

Another wee test.
Someone load up this kmz file (http://www.bad-boy.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/tracks.kmz) and see if you get a folder with a handful of tracks in it ?
If you do we'll make up a tracks folder to share and will repost.

keep sending the tracks :)

More tracks to come. Keep posting.

The Adelaied circuit I coudlnt wokr out WHERE those roads are. gpv, can you please do it and mail it to me ? Or PM me explaining where it actually is on the map and we can do the same as the Godl Coast
Wouter, we need to put a "virtual track" for UCP. Where is your entry for the map ???

These are two track swhich again are in the file already.

having reminded folks again and again, I'm now concerned there might be bugs preventing folk from seeing tracks in the file :(

So... first, BEFORE posting make sure you downloaded the file from here (http://www.bad-boy.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/tracks.kmz) and checked it's not in there. Google Earth has a folder structure in the file visible at the left of the window. You can go through there. IF you go to a co-ord you've been given it' worth zooming out to check the vicinity.

and ... second, when posting a track please indicate that you've downloaded and checked before posting. Lots of times now I'm loading up and searching co-ords given and it's wasting my time. It may only be 30 seconds for the submitter, but I've got that multiplied by everyone submitting here, by PM and e-mail :(

Thanks guys

so.... please if you download the file now and can't see any of the tracks listed here post immediately as we've got a bug !!

Your Norisring coordinates were a wee bit south of where the track actually is. :)

49°25'52.52"N, 11°7'27.59"E is the exact coordinates for the start/finish line I think. 49°25'40.65"N, 11°7'53.01"E is the famous hairpin at the bottom of the home straight. You should be able to work the rest out from the pics on the Norisring homepage - http://www.norisring.de/index.php?navi=1&rid=4&artid=4

Thank you please :)

i had some difficulty locating it.the image wasn't sharp all the way around.so i placed my placemark a bit south.

I wonder how old the main, lower res photos on Google Earth are? Looking at Hockenheim it looks as though it is only the old version. Can't see any evidence of the revisions which I think were introduced in 2002.

It's there. But the maps of that area suck.

The green area is parking, yellow's the strip, and red are the buildings and grandstands. :)

You continue on a 50/50 average Drakkie.

Thanks for Avus, but Montjuic was already in with a track overlay too :)

If you have tracks selected to display all then when you enter co-ords if you zoom out to country level you can easily see if the track is in or not.

File update - I'm in a good mood today !!!!

Dont' hesitate to send any track in though. I've found it quite useful when UCPers talk about local track to look at it and see the size and shape. THAT is when UCPers bother to put locatino in their profiel mind :D

Pukekohe - just south of Auckland, New Zealand. V8 Supercar host (but only one more year till they move it to a new Hamilton Street Circuit :D ). If you saw the V8 Supercar round earlier this year, you'll know its not the safest place to race/be a spectator :D (spectators nearly got hit by a flying Porsche, and I believe a photographer was badly injured when a car hit a fence).

Co-ordinates: 37°12'55.43 S 174°55'05.62 E

It goes around the horse-racing track ;)

Not got the time ( or inclination ) to create a UCP tracks file for the new MSN Live Earth.

It would be worth it though as the image quality of MSN is WAY above Google at the moment :)

Anyone has my permission to use the file I created to produce an MSN Live Earth one....................

See some of the UK tracks at http://local.live.com/default.aspx?v=2&cp=53.655855~-1.279993&style=a&lvl=6&scene=4296786&cid=3C3736D76FB981B6!410
