The 2005 Honda S2000 is a 2-door, 2-passenger convertible sports car, available in one trim only, the 6-Spd MT.

Upon introduction, the S2000 is equipped with a standard 2.2-liter, I4, 240-horsepower engine that achieves 20-mpg in the city and 25-mpg on the highway. A 6-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard.

Upon introduction in 1999, the S2000 had a 240hp 2.0 liter I4 achieving 120 hp/liter. Much more than many so-called supercars. Then new 2.2 engine has a bit more torque, but revs to only 8K. Too bad for you new S2K owners. Cheers.

The 2.2 S2000 is a bit quicker than the 2.0. I believe the 0-60 time went down by .2 seconds or so. V-tec also runs full power at lower rpms.

Less reving = a more reliable engine. (At least in this case)

Taillights and mufflers look much better in the 04' model.

Too bad for you 99-03 S2K owners. Cheers :)

Yeah, the facelifted S2000s are better. The significant changes for 2004 aimed at making the car's uncompromising personality more palatable to milder drivers were a great idea. The Viper taillights are awesome. Gone is the aluminum shifter because leather is more comfy. And the new corporate steering wheel makes it more Accord-like, which is great of course. Don't forget the extra speakers in the cockpit and the pretty chromed radio cover. Oh and the two cup-holders! Because that's what's important in a hard-core sports car. Cheers to you, sire.

"Upon introduction, the S2000 is equipped with a standard 2.2-liter..." That part is wrong because the 'introductory' S2000 had a 2.0 l engine. That was my point. But yeah, this post has not point, but neither does this forum which will be shutdown in three days. UCP forums, I hardly knew ye. Cheers.

Yeah, but the THREAD is about the 2005 S2000 which at ITS introduction was 2.2

the new s2k would be faster on reg roads and track because it develops peak torque and horsepower earlier

less reving doesnt neccesarily mean more reliable, the increased stroke neccesitated the drop in max rpms, but piston speeds remain the same

I was quoting either magazine articles or taken directly from the Honda site (I honestly do not remember, but I read it from a reliable source).... That's also why I said "At least in this case". I was only referring to this particular engine.

Apologize to a banned member? Hmmmm, let me think about it.

My bad, I got an email saying something about an ultimate car forum being closed, turned out to be another ultimate car forum. My mistake. And just like the M3 had 4 cylinders 'upon introduction', so too did the S2000 have a 2.0l engine. The whole 'upon introduction' thing is misleading. Cheers.

If it is phased out it'll be great for resale value...so I say end it already! And then do another one for the 100th anniversary.
