Basically I have a 256mb player and a 1.19gb of music. My music amount is going to increase alot now that i've learnt too be not so damned picky :) So i'm looking at 2-3gbs + probably for a new mp3 player. I'm not upgrading for a while but i'd like to know my options. I'm prepared to buy used and probably will be.
Before anyone says it...NO IPODS. None. Not one. Zip. Zada.

dude, theres like a whole post on this already.
if u care to roll ur eyes 2 inches lower you will se a thread titled MP3 PLAYERS. Maybe im saying MAYBE it would be a smart idea to look there. MAYBE! I dont know. The thread is called MP3, and ur looking for a new MP3, so there MIGHT be something on MP3 there. MAYBE!!!!!

I have different needs for a mp3 player and felt it would be better adressed in a different thread so i wouldnt be "hi-jacking" the other guys thread.

but ur looking at 2-3gig so 5 tops. I highly recommend the Creative Zen Micro http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00069BU4A/qid=1123048392/sr=8-4/ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i4_xgl/026-7154723-5677266 by far the best in its capacity range and alot better than the ipod mini

My budget is about 250-300 nz so I can't get anything too fancy..

Orefus, stop being a dick, you are not in any position to be mocking people for making threads, at least his has a point. Also get an icon, it makes you look like a noob not having one, even more so then your posts.
Zen Micro would be the way to go.
