Anyone else slightly dissapointed by it. I mean come on, its the last show of the series and the only watchable thing was the drifting and Murcielago, and I was dissapointed by the lambo report. It was just boring and the whole musical notes with car engines was just aweful, it didn't even sound anything like the theme tune.

Post your thoughts.

The whole series has been a dissapointment.

Also - Shame on the owner of the Enzo.

"Enzo" numberplates? Does Beckham have one now then?

True, was a bit of an anticlimax, series just ended on a low. I think it was kinda summed up by the M5 report they did (last time I think)...i thought it was dreadful! They spent about 5 mins going on about the fiddly electronics being annoying, and about 45 seconds on the performance side. Didnt do full justice to the car. Why havent they tested the new 911? Theres so much they can do, but they choose to do the wierd and wacky first, sorry, but was that report on the Ford truck enjoyable/informative/necessary??

My thoughts exactly. He took up a 10 minute slot to tell us that it was shit.

quit whining everyone ur like old men. Top gear is funny - brit humour, its not made specifically for anywhere else its for WE BRITS. I enjoyed it, and so did mustang, the people who its made for. i enjoyed the whole series.

Yeah, I agree. The highlight so far for me has been the Sagaris test, this week's Top Gear on BBC World BTW.

Aye aye,

This season wasnt that bad,

Some of the reviews have been a let down, like the MC12.

Some were good like the Sagaris.

And its going to be very difficult to find some exciting cars for the next series.

Relax, the only ones that are criticizing the show / last episode so far are British members.

CoventrySucks AREN'T British?

I didn't say it wasn't funny or un-enjoyable though.

Just not one of their best series.

Some vintage stuff though - Aygo 5-a-side, Range Stormer vs. Challenger II, Porsche Boxster & SLK 55 vs. snipers, putting car thieves off stealing a TVR...

Reviews of crap cars are the best ones. In all of the ones of cars they like they spend 10 minutes going around a track sideways.

I have 10 episodes of top gear of this season, how many are there?

The thing i'd like to see more in topgear is a better look at the enginering side of cars, but being clearly a "funny" show they mock thoose aspects.

Personally i think its a chance for imaure presenters who dont have any grasp on money to mess around... and i wouldn't have it any other way!!!

Sorry about the 911 report, remembered they did! Yeh I'm British, from Birmingham. I agree with Coventry, it wasnt one of their best overall, although there were the already stated good bits!! Me personally, I'd like to see a few more group tests of the expensive cars, eg F430 vs Gallardo, CLS55 vs M5, I guess their Power Lap times deal with an aspect of that, but its just a thought.

The whole series has been a dissapointment.
This talkshow style format has never really appealed to me. It was a lot better when it was still 30 minutes, and all they did was test cars.

Wonder if the low-key is because Clarkson's injury has had them had to cancel their ideas and fill it with some quickly thought up articles. Pure speculation.

They filmed all of the reviews before then though, so the only things affected would be the in-studio stuff.

had they ?
I had read 'somewhere' that he was concerned about being able to do some car reviews he was scheduled for. Probably the mag.
But as I'd said, the thought of it being related to the last show was pure speculation on my part :)

i watched the final episode a few hours ago and i didnt find anything wrong with it other than the boring interview with the star... it's actually one of my favourite episodes.
The reviews are really good, entertaining and funny... so i wasnt bored at all  i dont see what the big fuss is all about... the Murcielago Roadster review was awesome!

I have all 2005 episodes and this last one is far from bad...

on a different "note" :groan: :)

The item on usign the engine to make the song woudl have been so much better if' they'd spoken to Asiatech.

A while back Asiatech modified the ECU s/w to go through a sequence of rev changes and produced "When the Saints go marching on". Much better quality that May's pathetic attempt :)

How they did it was in F1 Racing magazine ........

A V10 engine produces five combustions per revolution at a
frequency per second of 60/(5 x revs per minute), which equals 12/rpm.
Therefore, to work out the revs you need to hit a particular musical note,
you multiply the note's frequency by 12. To play a 440Hz 'A', for example,
you need 5,280rpm. For 'C', use 3,139rpm, for 'F' 4,191rpm, and so on.

Asiatech's French technicians (the engine, despite its name, is derived from
a Peugeot design) simply programmed their engine to run through the various
rev/note ranges in the correct sequence. The result is delightful.

If you've not heard it before it's up at http://www.bad-boy.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/sounds/saints%20go%20marching%20on%20f1%20engine%20-%20Chauffe2.mp3
