One of the best Chinese automakers in terms of design styling and range, with a lineup that now includes four sedans, a hatchback, a wagon and a coupe, Brilliance, has just launched a new saloon under the H530 name.
With a crowd dominated by the media, Brilliance announced that the new H530 model is powered by a 1.5 liter self-developed turbo powered engine, which is delivering 100kW and 150 Nm of torque, and a 1.6 liter naturally aspirated unit.
According to the Chinese automaker, the interior of the new H530 model has been vastly improved in terms of plastics, which have been made more soften to the touch.
Being placed in the same area as the Honda Civic when talking about its measures, with 4.708mm x 1.788 mm x 1.475 mm (L x W x H), the new H530 is priced at 79.800rmb for the entry-level 1.6 manual and it goes up to 125.800rmb for the top-of-the-line 1.5T version.

Don't call it an Outback Sport. This is Subaru's new XV crossover, and though it totally fits the bill as a successor to the Impreza-based Outback Sports of yore, the Japanese automaker says that this little orange all-roader takes the company "into the compact crossover segment for the first time." (Nevermind that the XV isn't actually a new model, or that it is, minus a few very minor tweaks, exactly what the Impreza Outback Sport used to be).
Looking over the specifications, as before, the XV is pretty close to its Impreza sister, though ground clearance has been upped to a trail-friendly 8.6 inches. Under the hood, two gasoline engines are available, measuring 1.6 and 2.0 liters, and a heavily tweaked version of the diesel Boxer four-cylinder is on tap, as well. Subaru's new start/stop system is also on hand, and when mated to the CVT, Subaru says that the XV is quite efficient (thought we'll wait for official fuel economy numbers before we make any judgments).

It is not a X1 from BMW - Chinese Brilliance V5
The Brilliance SUV has been posted to the hallowed pages of China Car Times many a time before now, so we will not bore you with yet more pictures of the attractive compact SUV that has more than just a little bit of a passing resemblance to the BMW X1, but we can tell you that Brilliance have finally named their SUV.
For those that are sitting on the edges of your seats gasping for air, we can let you relax by telling you that the new SUV’s name is of course the V5. Obviously the X moniker had already been snapped up by BMW for its own range of cars, so Brilliance went up the Alphabet and chose the next suitable letter.
We can also say that the V5 will be carrying a 1.5T engine and also a 1.6 naturally aspirated engine as with the recently launched Brilliance H530 sedan, both manual and automatic gearboxes will be offered with the new V5 when it launches in early 2012. The exact launch date hasn’t yet been announced, it was supposed to be at the Shanghai Auto Show earlier this year but rumor has it that BMW asked its little friend in Shengyang to delay the launch of the SUV until the Chinese built BMW X1 had been put on show.
Here I have the sheet of V5 for all Brilliance fans - and BMW ones!

Jiangnan Alto got new name - TT and some minor changes to outside look.
Price of the TT starts at 20.800 yuan and ends at 25.800 yuan. Basic engine is a 0.8L three-cylinder with 36hp.

SUYs now are popular in China. You can see many high expensive ones - such as Porsche Cayenne, Range Rover, Mercedes-Benz G - especially G55 AMG - the price must be RMB 2,258,000! Also some cheap SUVs made in China - now two of them are avaliable!
The Brilliance-Jinbei entry-level SUV has a name: S50. The Jinbei S50 will be listed on the Chinese car market on August 25. Jinbei is a sub-brand from Brilliance Automotive. It makes vans and minibuses. Brilliance wants to use the Jinbei-brand for cheap passenger cars as well.
Power comes from the well known Mitsubishi 2.4, a Mitsubishi 2.0 might be possible as well. Price will start around 100.000 yuan. This sort of cheap ‘n big SUV’s is still very poplar in China, especially in the countryside.

Then, BYD’s S6 DM is a blatant rip-off of the Lexus RX crossover, and even has a dual-mode hybrid system similar to the RX400h. However, BYD’s 102 horsepower gas engine and 14 horsepower electric motor are exponentially weaker than the Lexus’ 3.5L V6/electric motor combination. BYD claims that the car can travel about 37 miles on a full electric charge, but really, who knows if this car will even be sold here. We’ll be waiting to see if BYD can make an original design first.

Both S50 and S6 are 8 pages folder.

The latest generation of VW Jetta will hit the market in March 2012 according to recent Chinese media reports, the new Jetta will be sold under the Sagitar name plate as with the last generation of Jetta as of course the second generation Jetta is still on the market in China.
The new Jetta will come with the same 1.4T, 1.6 and 1.8T engines as the current Sagitar and is expected to hit the same price brackets when it comes onto the market, the turbo models will get 7 speed DSG gearboxes. Pricing is expected to be from 148,000rmb to 180,000rmb, FAW-VW are also expected to introduced a 2.0T model which of course will be the GLI version.

Toyota Motor announced that Sichuan FAW Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. (SFTM), a joint-venture vehicle production company established with China FAW Group Corporation (FAW), has begun assembling the Prius hybrid in China as planned. SFTM held a ceremony today marking the beginning of production at a Sichuan FAW plant in Jilin Province, China.
The Chinese language brochure of new Prius has more than 32 pages, with many good photos, as good as Japanese ones, I think!

The new Honda CR-V has been listed on the China car market. Price starts at 193.800 yuan and ends at 262.800 yuan. The CR-V is made in China by the Dongfeng-Honda joint venture. Two engines: 2.0 with 155hp or a 2.4 with 190hp. Main competition: the Shanghai-Volkswagen Tiguan and the FAW-Toyota RAV4.

The new generation Sagitar compact sedan went on sale on March 07 with basically the same powertrain choices and pricing, an enlarged body, and reduced features. Available in four 1.6, five 1.4 TSI and one 1.8 TSI versions, the 2012 Sagitar sells for 131,800 – 185,800 Yuan.

The first generation Sagitar, derived from the fifth generation Jetta for North America, posted lackluster sales, delivering less than 130,000 units last year–while both FAW-VW "Jetta" and Bora sold more than 200,000 units. The joint venture determined that the main weakness in the original European design–for Chinese consumers–was that it was too compact, given its relatively high price range here. So the wheelbase gained 73mm to reach 2651mm, creating a 4644mm body length, compared with the 4544mm of the previous model. The new sagitar is also slightly wider and taller.

For powertrain, the only update is that the 1.8 TSI engine is now matched with the 7-speed DSG transmission instead of the Tiptronic 6AT.

To reduce cost, FAW-VW changed the multi-link independent rear suspension to torsion beam–the same type found on Bora and Lavida. Other downgrades include: no more heat-reducing window, hydraulic trunk opener, or hood insulator; battery capacity was reduced from 60Ah to 51Ah.

FAW-VW sold more than 1 million new vehicles last year, and targets 1.65 million in 2015. It has four factories in three cities: Changchun, Chengdu, Foshan. The new Sagitar is made in Chengdu. FAW-VW aims to sell more than 200,000 of it a year.

SAIC announced today the pricing of MG5 as the compact coupe hit the market. The 5 available versions, all powered by a 1.5L engine, sell for 87,700 Yuan (13,916 US dollars) – 128,700 Yuan. Optional on them is the speech-recognition infotainment system called "iVoka."
Developed on SAIC’s global A platform, the MG5 (codenamed A12) is basically a two-box, sporty version of the Roewe 350 sedan (codenamed A11), which was first released in April 2010. Both have a wheelbase of 2650mm. To describe the styling of MG5, SAIC created a vocabulary of "UK Design:" "Nimble-Flow" shape, "Civet Eye" headlights, "Driving Stream" body, "Surging Waves" side lines, "Brit-Allure" front face, "Span-Vibrant" interior, and "MaunaLoa" instrument cluster.
For powertrain, MG5 is equipped with a 1.5L L4 which can develop a maximum of 80kW of power and 135Nm of torque; consumers can choose either a 5MT or 4AT to match it.
Like the latest Roewe 350, MG5 comes with the optional feature of "iVoka," an updated, 3G version of the "inkaNet" for older Roewe 350 models. SAIC describes iVoka as an intelligent in-car personal assistant, which, like Siri, can respond to a group of voice commands. The Android-based iVoka is linked to "clouds’ through 3G mobile networks. MG5 owners who choose this feature can download 400mm of data every month for free in the first two years.
With iVoka, a good speaker of Mandarin, the language it understands, can accomplish a set of tasks hands-free in navigation, calling/texting, internet-surfing, and music-playing. For instance, iVoka can show or read out information of real-time traffic, weather, flights, and stock markets, find routes to a particular restaurant, play a particular song, or send text messages to a particular friend by responding to your voice commands.

I've had a dry period last couple of months. I've been trying to compile a list of all the brochures I've got but there's just too many...and I've run out of space for more!!

I think the time to sell some is approaching!!

Me, of course!
If you are the one, you will have some good brochures form me soon – as I have got some from Beijing Motor Show. From now on I will show them.
Firstly, I think it must be the most interesting one – BMW 3 Li
In China, many people like Long Wheel Base, we make ones coming from Europe cars, such as BMW 5L, Volvo S80L, Mercedes-Benz E-Class L,

The above picture of the China only stretched BMW 3Li popped up in January. It was however unknown how much it was extended. Now we know: 110mm, wheelbase goes from standard 2810 to 2930, length from 4624 to 4736. Official designation for the 3Li is ‘F35′, it will debut at the Beijing Auto Show next month and is made in China by the Brilliance-BMW joint venture.

The 3Li’s main task is to compete with the Audi A4L, a stretched Audi A4 made in China by the FAW-Volkswagen joint venture. Mercedes-Benz doesn’t make a stretched version of the locally made C-class but it seems they will have to.

BMW will not produce the standard-wheelbase 3-series in China but the very powerful versions, such as the 335i and M3, will be imported for sporty drivers. The 3Li is available as 320Li, 328Li and 335Li. Chinese car buyers indeed can choose between two different 335′s.
I think many Europe collectors like Europe cars - even if they were made in China - especially L versions!

Dear Collectors,
The Roewe 950 represents the closeness of GM and SAIC’s cooperation, the new 950 rides on top of GM’s Epsillon II platform and is one of the few occasions that a foreign company has handed over its more recent technologies to its Chinese partner, usually the last generation of product is handed over to the Chinese side. The Epsillon II is still a very valid platform and underpins a multitude of GM models, from the Buick Regal to the Cadillac XTS and the new Chevrolet Impala, and now of course the Roewe 950.
The Roewe 950 is essentially a restyled Buick Lacrosse from the exterior you can see that it shares the same slab styled lines as its Buick cousin and on the inside it looks like the two shared the same womb – as they did – the two interiors are essentially the same albeit with different badges. Under the hood its a similar story, SAIC has made full use of its partners 2.0L, 2.4L and 3.0L V6 engines, the 2.0L engine is not available in the Buick Lacrosse however and we question its ability to move the large 950 in an efficient timely manner.
Engine size aside, the 950 comes in at a very cheap 188,900RMB for the base 2.0L model which puts it above models such as the naturally aspirated Mazda6, Ford Mondeo, Toyota Camry, and Honda Accord in terms of price but then you are getting a much bigger vehicle and for Chinese, bigger is better especially if you’re a civil servant that will get chauffeured everywhere. The 2.4L version is priced in at 240,000RMB and the top of the line 3.0L V6 comes in at 320,000RMB.
So how does the Buick Lacrosse fair in comparison? The base 2.4L starts at 226,000RMB and rises to 275,000RMB with Buick offering four different combinations and then two hybrid models on top which are priced at 265,000RMB and 275,000RMB respectively. A 2.0T is offered which comes in at 250,000RMB and rises to 312,000rmb for the top of the range model with three versions available, and the range topping 3.0L V6 is 320,000RMB.
So what would rather own? Its a close call. The luxury 950 2.4L 950 comes in at just under 240,000RMB, where as the luxury 2.4L Lacrosse is 275,000RMB. So you can either pay for the brand and get the Lacrosse, or you can save money and go for the 950. Government departments will likely plump for the basic 950, especially if Roewe make a government fleet edition that comes in at a special price.

The facelifted Citroen C4, called c-Quatre in China , will be launched on the Chinese car market on May 18. The c-Quatre is based on the first-gen Citroen C4 and made in China by the Dongfeng-PSA joint venture. The facelifted C4 sedan was launched in April. Changes are the same on both cars; a new grill with more chrome, new light units and new bumpers.
First time for me, to see, the new Citroen C4, called c-Quatre in China . The facelifted c-Quatre was listed on the China car market two weeks ago. Biggest change compared to the old car: a big fat new chrome grill and even more chrome in the bumper. Chinese car buyers like chrome, so Citroen gives.
The c-Quatre is made in China by the Dongfeng-PSA joint venture. Price for the sedan starts at 106.800 yuan and ends at 147.800 yuan. The new c-quatre hatchback will be listed in May, it wasn’t at the show. Power comes from a 1.6 with 106hp and 142nm or from a 2.0 with 147hp and 200nm, mated to a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic.

Great Wall Voleex C50T compact sedan has a special importance for Great Wall, for it may well decide if the leader in China’s car market can successfully establish itself as a top sedan maker as well. With the first three-box sedan from Great Wall Voleex C50, becoming the second most popular new car in China last month (selling 24,723 units in Dec.), that goal looks ever closer. All it needs is a push from C50.
To be released in the second quarter this year–possibly April, during the Shanghai Auto Show, the C50 is said to be inspired by the current Honda Civic. It has the same wheelbase of 2700mm and same type of suspensions (front MacPherson, rear double wishbone) as the latter. Yet the C50 will have larger overall body dimensions, as bigger stance is a major selling point in the Chinese vehicle market.

"German carmaker Volkswagen AG has found a second site in western China to make its Jetta, one of the oldest but best-selling passenger car models in the world's second-biggest vehicle market. A plant in the southwestern city of Chengdu, wholly owned by Volkswagen's partner FAW Corp, started assembling the compact sedan on Thursday with an initial production of 24,000 units a year, the German group told China Daily.
The previously idle factory will add to the line of a joint ventures between the German and Chinese carmakers in the northeastern city of Changchun that's producing the Jetta, other Volkswagen models and Audi vehicles, with a total annual capacity of 600,000 units. Jetta cars made in Chengdu, to be marketed by sales networks of the joint venture, will mainly target the western market in China, Volkswagen said.
Top executives from Volkswagen and FAW said the move follows the central government's call to speed up development of western China and will take the Jetta closer to buyers in the region. The model, produced in Changchun since 1991, has been the top seller for many years despite competition from new models launched by other carmakers. In the first half of this year, Jetta sales climbed by 3.4 percent year-on-year to 97,547 units, accounting for 45 percent of the joint venture's total sales. But no full-year sales goal for the model has been revealed. In 2006, Jetta sales hit 176,800 units.
Ya le Zhang, director of Greater China Vehicle Forecasts for US consultancy CSM Worldwide (Shanghai) Ltd, said the Jetta is well-received by Chinese buyers for its "excellent durability" despite being a very old model. "The model has a good price value and fuel economy. It's also easy for maintenance due to a high localization rate," Zhang said. The 1.6-liter Jetta retails between 71,200 and 100,600 yuan. Over 90 percent of its spare parts are locally produced.
"Jetta's persistently strong performance indicates that car demand in China is very diversified," Zhang said. He said production of the model in western China will help boost its sales further as there is huge growth potential for car demand in the region.
China sales of Volkswagen, which has another tie-up with SAIC Motor Corp, surged by 24.6 percent to 431,369 cars from January to June, maintaining its two-decade top spot in the country's passenger car sector. Winfried Vahland, the group's China chief, said earlier this month that it aimed to move more than 800,000 cars this year in the country, up from 711,298 units last year."

Another car manufacturer has developed a model specially for the Chinese market. Introducing the Volkswagen Magotan. Despite sounding like a strange hybrid fusion between a Mango and a Rambutan, Volkswagen’s joint venture in China – FAW-Volkswagen – this is actually a Passat specially developed for the Chinese market.
Static torsional stiffness is up 57% over the standard Chinese Passat sold by Shanghai-Volkswagen (not FAW-Volkswagen), which is actually a long wheel base VW/Audi B5 platform car, as opposed to the this Magotan Passat’s PQ46 platform. The trunk is gigantic – 565 litres! The suspension consists of a MacPherson strut front as well as a four-link trapezoidal system for the rear. The Volkswagen Magotan is also the first sedan of it’s class in China to have an electronic parking brake, simply press a button to activate the brake, saving space in the car that would have otherwised been used for the mechanical connections.
There is also a Keyless entry start and exit system, which lets you enter the car as long as the transmitter is in your pocket – turning on the engine also works the same way with a push start button.
The press kit for the Magotan made me realise something about the mentality of FAW-Volkswagen though, but I am not sure if it’s the Germans or the Chinese who were responsible for this. The photos in the press kit show a normal Volkswagen Passat, but the Passat logos and German numberplate were erased, and new Magotan logo and Chinese numberplates pasted on. Don’t tell me you have to cut costs to the extent that you can’t re-do a photoshoot of the proper car?!
This is the exact reason why I will not try Chinese-made cars for the time being… who knows where else they have slashed on costs? But anyway, more photos after the jump, though if you’ve seen press photos of the Volkswagen Passat you really don’t have to bother. Same thing.

We've been anxiously waiting for the wraps to officially come off the 2013 Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake, and by golly, the wait is finally over. Our excitement, though, is tempered by Mercedes-Benz Manager of Product & Technology Public Relations Christian Bokich, who tells us, "Currently, there are no plans to bring the CLS Shooting Brake to the United States." To which we reply, "Boo!"
While we may take a bit of issue with Mercedes-Benz's assertion that "The proportions of the CLS Shooting Brake are surprising but clearly those of a coupé... but with five doors and a roof which continues through to the rear," we're still pretty keen on the exterior look. "In essence it represents an unprecedented version of a sports car with five seats and a large tailgate," adds M-B, and that much we can mostly agree with.
In reality, this is a low-slung station wagon, similar in execution to the Cadillac CTS Wagon, and it looks great. Based on our observations about the CLS four-door coupe sedan that the Shooting Brake is based on, we expect it to be a great car to drive, as well. Europeans will get two gasoline engines – a 3.5-liter V6 making 306 horsepower in the CLS350 and a 408-hp twin-turbo 4.6-liter V8 in the CLS500 – as well as two diesels – a 2.1-liter four cylinder in the CLS250 CDI and a 3.0-liter V6 in the CLS350 CDI.
All but the four-cylinder are available with either rear- or 4Matic all-wheel drive, the smallest engine making use of the rear wheels only. Acceleration comes in at 7.8 seconds to 62 miles per hour for the CLS250 CDI, 6.7 seconds for the CLS350 and 5.3 for the CLS500. Top speed is limited to 155 mph.
Emphasizing the increased utility over its four-door sibling, Mercedes has fitted the CLS Shooting Brake with optional aluminum loading rails and a wooden load compartment floor. Up to 1,550 liters (54.7 cubic feet) are available behind the standard power liftgate, and an automatically adjustable air suspension ensures proper ride and handling even with a load in place. There's even an optional towing kit.

GAC-Fiat officially launched their first assault on the Chinese auto market with the Viaggio compact sedan, announcing on Thursday evening in Shanghai competitive pricing for the six 1.4T versions. Taking on a group of popular models including Ford Focus, VW Sagitar, VW Lavida, Nissan Sylphy, and Chevy Cruze, the Viaggio goes on sale for 108,800 Yuan (US$17,185) for the entry version and 158,800 Yuan for the top-end.
A sibling of Dodge Dart and Alfa Romeo Giulietta, the inaugural GAC-Fiat car is based on the CUSW (Compact U.S. Wide) platform. Sitting on a 2,708mm wheelbase (compared with Dart’s 2,703mm), it is 4,679mm long, 1,850mm wide, and 1,471mm tall. Overall, it remains close to the Dart in both exterior and interior styling, although the nose has been changed to look gentler and less sporty.
In several important ways, the Viaggio is not a re-badged Dart as some have claimed. Not only is the Chinese-made car equipped with significantly fewer safety and convenience features (for instance, except the top version, the Viaggio comes with only two airbags, while ten are standard on the Dart), it also gets less advanced powertrains and underpinnings. Founded on March 9, 2010, GAC-Fiat is a 50:50 joint venture between Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd. (GAC) and Fiat. Its factory in Changsha, Hunan, where the Viaggio is built, has a production capacity of 140,000 units a year (the joint venture plans to expand it to 250,000-300,000). A vice general manager of the company recently forecast over 10,000 deliveries of the Viaggio before the end of this year.

It's been a while...again, since my last post.

Quick update re my collection.

Since my last post I have gained another 100 or so brochures, mainly mainstream uk models but a few oldies too.

I was fortunate enough to have been given a boxful of brochure from the 60s to 80s all in mint condition from an old gent across the road from me. It had a nice MG RV8 brochure at the top of the pile...I'm a bi of an MG fan so it was nice to see.

I have also added a 1964 Aston Martin DB4 GT brochure to the collection which I love. It burnt a hole in my pocket to get it but it was well worth it. It's not in bad condition either for its age.

And lastly and partly the main reason for posting after so long, today i managed to acquire a brochure that supercedes my "most epic" item, previously the Porsche 918 customer box set". What is it I'm sure you're wondering...well it's a McLaren F1 brochure, but not the normal road going version, this one was created for the F1 GT longtail. I think I'm correct in saying that only 3 road going versions were ever made...am I wrong? So I'm quite impressed to have finally got my hands on one as they are few and far between!

I have actually got psychical possession of it yet but I'm making a 400 mile round trip on Monday to collect it from the guy I got it from. If anyone would like pictures of it when it arrives, please let me know.

Other than that excitement I called Jaguar the oter day to enquire about the f type and they were kind enough to send me a f type media kit they gave out at Paris! Certainly a new car I wouldn't mind getting!

Citroën now hits the market with a special C-Quatre Cross package that can be ordered at the dealer for about 6000 yuan. The BMW 3 Series Long Wheelbase Sedan has just premiered at the 2012 Auto China show in Beijing. The 3 Series Li has been announced in three models - 320Li, 328Li, and the 335Li.
The Li model adds 11 centimeters (4.3 inches) to its wheelbase over the standard F30 3 series sedan, resulting in a more spacious passenger cabin (particularly the rear). Both the BMW 3 Series Sedan in the long wheelbase version and the new BMW 3 Series Sedan will be available in China before the end of the year.
These models will be for the Chinese market only and will be produced at BMW's new Shenyang production plant.

The new Volkswagen Jeta did hit the Chinese auto market in January, it debuted in late August on the Chengdu Auto Show. Earlier on we heard the Jetta would be launched before the end of this year but apparently there has been a small delay. The Jetta must be priced from 70.000 to 110.000 yuan.
Engines: 1.4 and 1.6. The Jetta will be made in China by the FAW-Volkswagen joint venture in two factories; one in Chengdu and one in Changchun. The new Jetta stands on the same PQ25 platform that also underpins the new Volkswagen Santana, the Skoda Rapid and the Seat Toledo. The Skoda Rapid will be made in China as well, production will start sometime next year.

Priced between 107,800 and 148,300 yuan, the all-new Bora is an upgraded model in the middle of vehicle's lifecycle. Made at Volkswagen's joint venture with FAW Group, it formally hit the market on Dec 12 last year.
Its powertrain is basically the same with the old model. Its 1.4-liter turbocharged engine has maximum power of 96 kW and top torque of 220 Nm. Another engine option, a 1.6 liter naturally aspirated power plant, has maximum output of 77 kW and peak torque of 155 Nm. It is available with five-speed manual transmission, six-speed automatic transmission or seven-speed direct shift gearbox. The wheelbase retains its length of 2,610 mm.
Major changes on car's exterior and interior include replacing the old, soft front profile with the current Volkswagen face featuring sharper lines.

This is kinda strange since the new QQ is not at all a complicated car. We heard rumors about delay caused by disagreement in Cherys boardroom on the new QQ’s design, but whether those rumors were true will likely never be clear. The old QQ, later renamed QQ3, is still alive, now facelifted and called QQ3 Sports. The new QQ, which will be called ‘QQ’ or ‘QQ5‘ will be positioned higher than the old QQ, price is expected to start around 45.000 yuan.
Power comes from a 1.0 four-cylinder with 69hp and 93nm, mated to a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic. Size: 3564/1620/1527, wheelbase is 2340. Chery might offer a cheaper 0.8 engine in 2013 but that one seems not sure yet. Talisman, Renault’s new flagship sedan for the Chinese market, embodies the “casual luxury” that Chinese customers have come to appreciate: value for money and luxury for daily life. Talisman, produced in Korea at Renault Samsung Motors, had been exported to China starting in mid-June 2012 with a base price of 318,800 RMB (38,652 Euros).
The Renault Talisman is a luxury 2-door sedan/coupé concept car designed after the 1995 Renault Initiale Concept line by Renault chief designer Patrick le Quément and it was presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2001.
The first sketches were drawn in early 2000 and first referred as Renault Z12. There were 4 final 1/5 scale models and a judging team, led by Patrick le Quément selected this coupé. It was named "Talisman" on June 20, 2001
The Talisman was designed as a luxury sedan with 4 comfortable seats but with only 2 gullwing doors and a coupé-style ending. It applies the "Touch Design" concept, where the principal objective is to make materials and controls soft and ergonomic. The equipment is formed by LCD screens instead of mirrors, GPS and even a Tag Heuer clock in the middle of the board. The board slides up giving access to a giant glovebox. The seats are colored of dark red, and curiously, the seat belts are fixed at the opposite side of every car; in the left for the right seat and in the right for the left one. Four massive 380 mm (15.0 in) 6-pistons disc brakes are in charge of stopping the car. There are also twin metallic suitcases located in the trunk, and fixed to it.
The design of the Talisman was followed by the Mégane II.

Beijing Auto (BAIC) launched today the "Shenbao" marque for its upcoming high-end passenger car lineup and the first model carrying it, the D320. Previously called C70G, the D320 sedan is built on BAIC’s "M-trix" platform, derived from the GM2900 that gave rise to the first-gen Saab 9-5.
"Shenbao," whose official English translation is currently unknown, is a Chinese name of "Saab" that has been used in Hong Kong and Macau (in mainland China, Saab’s Chinese brand name is "Sabo"). In 2009, BAIC bought three vehicle platforms and some powertrain technologies from Saab, but failed to acquire the brand. In launching "Shenbao," it seemed to follow a strategy similar to that of SAIC’s, which has resurrected "Rover" in China as "Roewe."
Sitting on a 2755mm wheelbase (compared with the 2703mm one on the first-gen Saab 9-5), the D320 is 4861mm long, 1820mm wide, and 1462mm high. It is to get three turbo-engine choices: a 130kW 1.8L, 150kW 2.0L, and 184kW 2.3L. They will be paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission.

Ford has unveiled the production version of its EcoSport crossover at the 2012 Beijing Motor Show. The small five-door utility should offer buyers plenty of functionality in a compact and efficient package thanks to a range of drivetrain configurations including a 1.0-liter, three-cylinder Ecoboost engine. The small-displacement engine is good for 118 horsepower and 125 pound-feet of torque, which should be more than enough to move the little machine around. All told, Ford says the EcoSport will see duty in over 100 world markets, though the CUV isn't expected to show up in our neck of the woods.
The EcoSport Titanium is currently on display in Beijing, complete with 16-inch wheels and a massive chrome grille. All models feature Ford Sync with voice control, while smart keyless entry and remote start are also available. As expected, the crossover also comes laden with safety tech, including dual front and side-curtain airbags.

Guangzhou Auto has released a teaser of the upcoming Trumpchi GA3 sedan, formerly known as the Guangzhou Auto AF. The Trumpchi GA3 did debut on the Shanghai Auto Show and it will be launched on the Chinese car market July, price will range from about 70.000 to 100.000 yuan.
There will be two new engines: a 1.4 turbo and a 1.6. Guangzhou Auto is also working on a 1.6 turbo but whether the GS3 will get it is yet unsure. The Trumpchi GA3 will be positioned under the Trumpchi GA5. Guangzhou Auto is also working on a GA3 hatchback which will hatch in late 2014.
Design of the Trumpchi GA3 is inspired by the sleek lines of the Guangzhou Auto E-Jet that debuted on the Guangzhou Auto Show in December last year.

It is the first show in the world - I was told!

The Icona Vulcano supercar had been launched at the Shanghai Motor Show. Described by its makers as “a luxury one-off supersports car” the two-seater Vulcano is powered by a front-mounted V12 petrol engine that’s boosted by electric motors.

The combined power output is around 900bhp, which Icona claims will give a top speed of around 220mph. Few other details have been revealed, except that the swoopy super car will feature a special paint called Red Magma, which the firm claims “is evanescent when lit up, almost black in the absence of light.”

Icona is a design firm with roots in Turin but is based in Shanghai, and aims to offer "European transportation design, engineering and prototyping services, but refined to meet Chinese tastes and expectations."

The design of the Vulcano is claimed to be an evolution of the electric four-seater Icona Fuselage concept produced by Chuffart in 2011.

But while the Fuselage was electric, the Vulcano features a petrol-electric hybrid powertrain developed by Italian, Claudio Lombardi.

Lombardi has a background in motor sport, developing engines for the Lancia rally team, Ferrari F1 and GT race programmes and the Aprilia Superbike team. He founded a firm called AIPA two years ago to develop hybrid powertrains, the first of which will appear in the Vulcano.

Geely held a press conference on April 19th, just before the 2013 Shanghai Auto Show officially begins on the 20th. The Zhejiang-based maker announced it will bring 23 models to the Shanghai Auto Show, including concepts and production ready vehicles. Among these concepts is the futuristic and sophisticated KC concept, which is shown in these renderings carrying Geely’s premium brand, Emgrand. The KC was presented by design director Ma Zhengkun and former design head honcho at Volvo and Ford, Peter Horbury, who is now vice-president of design at Geely.
Geely hopes to show in Shanghai the evolution of its product in terms of design, quality and technology to improve its brand image both in China and internationally. For a company that’s not supposed to even exist (the Chinese government never wanted private automakers), this scrappy brand that started out making refrigerators has certainly gone a long way.

Biggest changes are up front with a new grille with more chrome, new head lights and new bumpers. The facelifted Nissan Livina will debut on the Guangzhou Auto Show in November and it will hit the Chinese car market in early 2013.
Current Nissan Livina, made in China by the Dongfeng-Nissan joint venture. Price starts at 85.800 yuan and ends at 129.800 yuan. Engines: 1.6 and 1.8. Price for the facelifted Nissan Livina will be about the same and both engines will continue. The 1.6 will get slightly more power and there will be a CVT available, the current Livina comes with a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic.
Livina Cross will get the same treatment.

The V5 is based on the platform from the last-gen Mitsubishi Lancer that is still being made by the SouEast-Mitsubishi joint venture. Power comes an imported Mitsubishi-sourced 1.8 with 144hp mated to a CVT. Later on SouEast will offer its own 1.5 and 1.5 turbo as well. Chinese media report today that the 1.5 will get 120hp, no word yet on the 1.5 turbo, which will likely power the upcoming sporty SouEast V5. Price for the V5 Lingzhi with the 1.6 will range from around 70.000 to 90.000 yuan.
The sleek SouEast V6 Ling Shi hatchback has been launched on the Shanghai Auto Show and at the same time on the Chinese car market. Price starts at 74.800 yuan and ends at 95.800 yuan. Only engine available is a 1.5 with 120hp and 143nm, mated to a 5-speed manual or a CVT.

The 2.5 seems to be a government-only engine, for mandarins who desire a V6 but are on a limited budged.
