Highway Star by Deep Purple is a good one. There are other good driving songs but I can't think of any racing songs.

Freewheel Burning - Judas Priest
Trashed - Black Sabbath

But for me the best music is the one from a tuned engine revving at 10,000+

For me its electronic music that works. Most of the essential mixes from BBC Radio 1 are really good, specially those by Paul Van Dyk, Tiesto, Timo Mass, and Paul Okenfold.

One hour long non-stop, so you just "set and forget". Specially good for epic road trips.

10,000+??? That's for wimps! Try a 21,000rpm Ferrari F1 V8....

(I know the quality of the recording ain't great, but you get the general idea! :p )

Maybe a jet engine would be better

Now that I think of it I would like a Rocket "engine" like the one used in spacecrafts

Abrasive techno: Atari Teenage Riot, Alec Empire, Mindless Self Indulgence
Mainstream techno: The Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers, The Crystal Method
Ska/punk: Operation Ivy, Rancid, Suicide Machines

They're all fast and high energy most of the time.

rock is always good driving/racing music...

metal is better though, metallica etc (even nu-metal stuff like linkin park does the job), just makes me want to put the foot to the floor...

Go find the Supertramp album 'Brother Where You Bound.'
Lots of good ones on there, namely 'Cannonball,' 'Better Days,' and 'Brother Where You Bound.' The last is 17 minutes long, so you'll want to edit so you get the last 3 minutes of the song. EXCELLENT for racing, this song also has (in my honest opinion) Dave Gilmour's best guitar solo. :)

EDIT-Here is a stop-motion I made a while ago that uses a little bit of that end part of 'Brother Where You Bound.' (Yet somehow I managed to edit out the excellent guitar solo. :() :)

Power metal is where the racing music is at. Nothing beats ripping up the track whilst a man in tight leather screams about dragons \m/

Esperante, don't copy these antics.

Zemo is facing a SEVERE ban as editing to make it look as if someone else posted anything is tantamount to lying and UNACCEPTABLE. Even in humour, do NOT.

Thanks for mentioning some of the songs guys.

Checking them out now.
As for racing music,
Judas Priest - You Got Another Thing Comin'.
Hell, almost any Judas Priest song is good.

And Zemo don't know jack.
Motley Crue is classic rock and hardly any song is about the Devil.
Idiot.

Keeping on topic, anything by Orgy tends to be fun for driving to. I like the way by bodyrockers is great, like ricksta says.

I gotta agree ... I've been diving into some older stuff lately; Less Than Jake, Reel Big Fish etc. :)

Check out "How can I laugh tomorrow" by Suicidal Tendencies and tell me your foot don't itch to hit the firewall. ;)
