In order to accompany my red 360 Modena completed last year here is the yellow version and the silver spyder (allegedly used as a wedding car for Luca di Montezemolo). The yellow body is hardening to receive final polishing treatment and the spyder has been sprayed TS17 and received a clear coat TS13. The chassis belongs to the yellow car.

Apologies for the pic quality, blame the spy Leica.

Goodstuff.....Not a very big fan of the 360 but they do look rather nice like that, huddled up in a 3-car bunch.

So you going to cut the windhield down like Luca's speedster style Spider?

found the pics. Have you by any chance made a tutorial on how to cut glass without damaging it??

Haven't made a tutorial...but when I cut it I use a razor saw which has a very thin blade with tiny teeth. I use Scotch Plastic tape as a guide but you could use masking tape too, the plastic tape works better because it's tougher, thicker and keeps the blade aligned better until the cut is deep enough to hold the blade.

Put the tape around the glass at your desired cut line and carefully scribe the glass down the edge of the tape til the teeth get into it good, then carefully begin sawing keeping your line straight.

If the cut ends up not being straight you can sand the edge down even and polish it.

Can I use such blue masking tape as pictured above (at least similar) as a mask for spraying? It's the only stuff I have offhand.

It's the next best thing to Tamiya masking tape.

thanks very much, looks easy enough, except for the fact that I have to go out and buy a hacksaw :)

The yellow Modena has finally left the bench. The experiment not to use primer was not successful, as two small chips of paint went straight off during polishing. (on the other side of the car, not visible here:) ). I also should have darkened the panel lines....

In the mean time I decided to give up my ambition to construct Luca's Spider and in stead the normal car will be produced.

any pics of Luca's spider???

still in progress, but as said, I will not cut off the front window.....so it will just be an ordinary spider. Just found out that the kit has a some other improvements over the coupe version, like a better location of the red engine covers and two extra parts to close off the front wheel arches. Also the location method of rear and front lights has been changed.

I meant the real thing, not the model

Edit: I was looking on the internet. Isn't it the 360 Barchetta?

your thinking 550 barchette, its 360 modena or spider but no barchetta

interesting bit of trivia, its Spider not spyder as maserati and fiat among others trademarked the Y :p

how far do i haev to go before you believe me? even the british (spelling snobs) site spells it with an I, and they dont spell tyre with an I why would they spell Spider with one unless its the name?

the italian site is screwed up, none of the words come up only graphics, so you have to click and then go back,

in every single thing ive read its spelled spider, ive provided 2 examples from 2 different countries, also ferrari's 2 biggest markets

if you dont believe me fine, go spell it spyder

Yeah, jeez, terrible work.

I could not help but notice how beautifully that top fits. I have rarely seen a kit that doesn't require some sort of 'finessing' to get to fit relatively well.

the top is sitting loose, but indeed fits perfectly. When it is up, it covers some damage I made to head rest section of the body, when I polished too heavily (using the Dremel) and ate into the plastic......I tried to remove it by puttying and sanding the body again but it still visible.

i c. so far, the only bad complaints i've seen are the tricky mesh and the fact that the rear decklid won't open to reveal engine when there is a full engine(it opens on tamiya's, but the revell is considerbly cheaper, they say)

the Tamiya lid opens, but also the window shows already a lot of the engine when the lid is closed. You will only need mesh for the engine air intakes, and may be you have some nylon Tamiya stuff lying around ( I do if needed:) )

on revell's Ferrari kits, the mesh is tricky to cut(have to play around with the templates(which you have to trace) otherwise there isn't enough mesh) and the tricky mesh part is for the engine lid's window. most say just paint it matt black or something

the engine lid comes as a solid part in the Tamiya kit, with a sort of "meshy" detail.
