I did a search and didn't find a thread about this. Does anyone know when/if Audi will release a new S3? If so, will it have a V6 or Turbo 4 cylinder? Any HP estimates? Or is the A3 3.2 V6 the hottest Audi 3 series we can expect?

I have no doubt the S3 is on its way, any specs and info can only be speculation though as no numbers have been officially released by audi.

I highly doubt that, the 3.2 has 250bhp, i'm going on the V6 3.2 with 350BHP. :)

That makes sence, the S3 has to have more power than the A3 3.2 V6 since it will be the top model of the 3 series range.

It has to have more power? I don't think so. The "S" stands for Sport.
A sportier setup doesn't mean it has to have more power.
I bet the Golf GTI will go around a track faster than the R32.
Know what i mean?

Well, name an Audi that has more power that it's "S" variant.

Not only does an R32 have more power than the GTI, it also has the advantage of AWD. I doubt a FWD GTI would beat it. :)

The 2001 Audi S4 used a 2.7 liter V6 though there already was the 4.2 liter quattro.

Btw i didn't say that there's no way it would have more power than the 3.2 liter V6.
I just meant that it's not always necessary to take the biggest engine possible to make the car the "sportiest" in the production line.

Right, but the 2001 S4 had twin turbos :) I agree that the "S" models don't need to have a big engine to make them sportier, but if you look at the current S4 and RS4 the use a V8 normally aspired and twin turbo respectavly. I would bet the new S3 uses a turbo V6 at the very least. :)

I think I'd be very happy to go along with the Twin Turbo 2.7L S4 engine. Not only does it deliver performance but it will also undoubtely be much lighter than any 3+L engine, which IS crucial if Audi don't want to make a joke out of their 3 series like VolksWagen made with their GTi. If some of you are confused I mean to say that nobody doesn't expect AWD with the S3, and by far Audi's Quattro system has never exactly been the lightest. To save their sport from becoming an elephant they need to make some compromises. I also really really hope they don't make the other mistake VW did, by adding weight for luxury and such. If's it performance, keep it performance. Add a bit of comfort, yes, but keep the soul fiery.

Hector don't be to sad ! Mexico is going to get it first, as far as the performance no one knows yet.Audi is being hash-shush about it.

an S3 with the 2.7TT motor would absolutely fly, i'd buy it. Then probably understeer it in to a tree, but at least i'd die happy
