View Full Version : BMW M5 by Hartge!

According to Hartge, the M5 doesn't have the real looks of a fast car. Sow they desided to tune the exterior a bit.

For example they designed a frontspoiler, sideskirt, and a rearbumper. Two different exhaust systems where designed, one with round and one with oval pipes.

Something that isn't only good-looking, but also improves the handling, is a lowered suspension kit. The standers springs are replaced by a set of springs wich lower the car 30mm. A whole line of wheels was designed with a top class 21 inch rim. This rim is fitten with 295/25 ZR21 tyres.

And now comes the best: THEY ARE REMOVING THE SPEED LIMITER!! Yes!! Now we can really see how fast it goes and they might even tune it...

I personally dislike it. My love of the M5(there is an E39 in my garage) stems from the fact that aside from a slightly more aggressive look, the differences between an M5 and a 5 series are hardly noticeable to an untrained eye. However the Hartage modifications are attempting to go against the underlying philosphy of the cars styling and as a result it loses what I love about the car. It still is though a great car and the bit about tuning could be really interesting.

It needs a bit of a styling change on the rear bumper and a better lip spoiler, then it'd be perfect :D

Which M5 ever looked real fast? One guess: BMW never intended to make the M5 look fast!

IMO the E60 5-series is the ugliest ever made...

Yeah ok, the 6-series really sucks. But I think they did a real nice job on this one...

A great car, but the styling of the e39 M5 never really floated my boat. I think it has to do with the taillights and how their transition into the body of the car is so crude, esp. when looking at it at a side view

I believe you're talking about the E60, which is the latest one. The E39 was the previous (and exponentially better-looking) version of the car.

The main problem was that it looks absolutely awful. Sane people tend to outrightly agree with this though, so it's not so much of a controversy.
