Just got back from the track at Daytona where they are running the 37th annual 24 hours at Daytona.
Start time was 1pm EST. The entire field got off to a good start. At about 4pm, very light rain started and lap times dropped about 10 seconds [my average]. I thought everyone had a handle on the rain but suddenly a half dozen spinouts in quick succession [all managed back into the packs okay.
The track is 3.56 miles.
It's a Porsche parade with 28 entries, including the fabcar [6 of them I think].
When I left, the DP's [Daytona Prototype] had the top five spots and they were on the same lap as far as I could figure [my radio went on the fritz].
Even Masarati has an entry [#33], clocked him at 2:05 in the rain.
Forecast is more rain
Going back out latter and will post more if you all are interested.

The race was essentially a wsh out [pun intended].
The race was won by the Crawford team that put together a DP machine.
None of the Fabcars finished, so I guess it's back to the drawing board for Hurley Haywood and crews.
Second and third overall and 1st and 2nd in the GT class were Porsche GT's.
[after 24 hours, the two finished only 7 seconds apart].
Saw a lot of wheels flying all by themselves [story has it that the 'rules' call for aluminum lug nuts or bolts and therein lies the problem].
Some teams didn't have a budget for rain tires.
The race had 8 full track yellow flags and one red flag [due to a downpour].
With 30 minutes to go, the lead car lost it at the bus stop.
