Thanks Rob. Have you recovered from Monterey?

Thanks Rob. Have you recovered from Monterey?

yeah, i've recovered pretty quick, but that's because Wouter's been doing most of the work since we've returned. sorting, renaming, and writing articles, etc. He deserves a lot of credit for his prompt updates during and after the Monterey frenzy.

He'll be preparing for Frankfurt next, and I think I'll be heading stateside for NY at the end of Sept. see you there?

Yea. I'm the "official" photographer for NYC. Should be a very nice event. (two events actually).

 That's amazing! How much time over the ten months did you spend on it? That's just absolutely stunning...

AndyM

Probably about 750 - 800 hours Sauc3.

Having never seen the contents of the Rosso kit (when that was issued my budget would not allow me to get one, and now that it is only on Ebay prices are still scaring me off :) ), but what is the level of detail in the kit and what scratchbuilding and wiring was necessary. Was all the foil included? Carbon decals?

It really is a piece of art (and I won't make a joke about the bare metal suspension :D )

Henk4 - The radio control and telemetry systems are 100% scratch built. All of the engine and cockpit wiring and detailing is from scratch. The carbon fiber is from both Studio7 and SMS. The level of detail in the kit is fair. All of the compression fittings, wires, seat upholstery and control lines were added by me during construction. Don't get me wrong - the kit itself is very good in terms of quality. I just didn't think it had enough "stuff".

And thanks for not mentioning the bare metal arms. Jeesh! I'm going to be hearing about those for the rest of my life!

In terms of the time, I'd get in about 3-4 hours per day (in the evening) and another dozen or so hours on the weekend. It wasn't too difficult to find 20 hours per week in a good week and 5-10 during a busy one. It helps that I only sleep 4-5 hours per night.

Andy, good to see your work on here. My patience is way too limited to get on with something like this.

You already popped up in some of the shots I went through. You and rob should sync positions in NY !

Andy, don't listen to him. you and i already seem to know where each other is in a shoot, and patiently work together. he's just buggin cuz we were on opposite locations during the awards presentation at PB.

Already got it worked out Wouter. Rob's agreed to carry me on his shoulders. That way we won't show up in eachother's shots.

The other way around would be better; then he can actually see over those long 1930s hoods.

no, i doubt that Wouter will be back for just a weekend event. He'll possibly be back over here in January for Detroit and Cavallino.

Otherwise, I'll possibly be going to NYC for this: http://www.newyorkcityconcoursdelegance.com/

it's the first annual.

another great build, Andy.
What do you use for the hose fittings ? Are those your own etched parts or availble off-the-shelf ??

AndyM

Matra - some of the hose fittings are off-the-shelf from Detail Master and some of them are scratch-built pieces that I did in my shop. If you haven't already checked them out, I HIGHLY recommend http://www.detailmaster.com/

Their stuff is really quite good.
